1. About Lexus Philippines
History
During its early days, Lexus was already an established premium automotive brand known only in Japan. In 1983, the company headed by its chairman Eiji Toyoda, wanted its glory to be felt worldwide.
After years of releasing outstanding models splashed with sophistication and fitted with innovations, Lexus is valued to be the largest manufacturer of luxury cars in Japan.
The company’s name was derived from Alexis. As it sounded like a name, they decided to remove the first letter and change I to U. Their first project was a premium sedan with a codename “Flagship One” or “F1”. It was launched in 1989.
Till 2005, Lexus did not exist as a separate brand in its home market. All their vehicles released from 1989 to 2005 were offered under its internationally established sibling, the Toyota Motor Corporation.
In 2007, after building a credible reputation of releasing well-equipped automobiles, the rising premium carmaker unveiled its F marque performance division with the official launch of the Lexus IS (XE20).
Development
Since then, Lexus has introduced some of the best automobiles that dominated roads and racing tracks such as the Lexus LS X40 equipped with a 4.6-liter V8 petrol engine, the hybrid Lexus HS 250H that runs using a 2.4-liter 2AZ-FXE inline-four engine paired with an electric generator that produces a maximum horsepower of 197, the four-door Lexus IS XE20 powered by a V6 engine with D-4S direct injection system, and the bestselling, full-sized Lexus LS.
