Available locally is the Hyundai Kona 2.0 GLS AT. It comes in Chalk White, Lake Silver, and Dark Knight. To match its trendy vibe, Pulse Red and Acid Yellow are also offered.
Launch
Globally, the Hyundai Kona was unveiled in June 2017 and was named after a western area in the islands of Hawaii. Since its release, it got a huge following from different parts of the world. In 2018, an electric variant was launched worldwide.
Locally, it debuted at the Manila International Auto Show in 2018 and was made available in the market a month after.
In 2019, both the non-electric and electric variants were awarded as the “North American Utility Vehicle of the Year” in the North American International Auto Show.

Exterior
This trendy car shows a glimpse of what future Hyundai automobiles will look like. Its front flaunts a refreshing cascading grille with a thin strip above that aids ventilation.
It is matched with a pair of projector type headlights, daytime running lights and front fog lamps that are nicely partitioned.
Its body has subtle distinct lines and curves. On top, a roof spoiler and roof rails add to its sporty appeal. Its aggressively designed rear features a slim pair LED daytime running lights and taillights with cladding.
Interior
Dominating its spacious cabin is the color black, high-grade plastics, and faux leather. Drivers will be pleased with its three-spoke steering wheel, adjustable seat, and center console with a pleasing vertical layout.
The seats are covered in fabric and can accommodate five fully grown passengers. Supporting this vehicle that measures 4,165mm long, 1,800mm wide, and 1,550mm tall is a set of sturdy 17-inch alloy wheels.
Technology & Safety Features
The new Hyundai Kona is equipped with a push-start button, keyless entry, speed-sensing door locks, power-adjusted side mirrors, and cruise control. Entertainment is provided by an infotainment system with mono LCD. It can be connected through AUX, USB, and Bluetooth. Providing sound inside the cabin is six speakers.
In terms of safety, this subcompact crossover is fitted with a good number of airbags, seat belt reminder at the front, tire pressure monitor, an anti-lock braking system, and ISOFIX child seat anchors.
Platform & Chassis
This front-engine, front-wheel-drive automobile sits on the Hyundai B-segment platform. It is fitted with MacPherson Strut suspension at the front and torsion beam axle at the rear. Braking is assisted by ventilated discs at the front and discs at the back.
Engine & Drivetrain
This five-door crossover SUV runs using a 2.0-liter MPI Nu Atkinson gas motor that generates a horsepower of 147 with a maximum torque of 179 Nm. It is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
