Mazda CX-3 2021 Overview
It sports an adequate size for a city car that is based on the platform of the Mazda 2. Much like the rest of the Japanese brand’s line-up, it features excellent fuel efficiency, handling, and drive performance. The Mazda CX-3 follows the Kodo design philosophy of flowing lines on the exterior and minimalist finishes in the interior.
The latest Mazda CX-3 is currently marketed in one variant which is powered by a SKYACTIV-G 2.0L In-line 4-Cylinder DOHC gasoline engine. It is offered in four colors which are Ceramic, Eternal Blue, Machine Gray, and Soul Red Crystal.
The first ever Mazda CX-3 was officially introduced in 2015 to the global automotive market and is currently on its second generation. It made its way to the Philippines in 2016 with two variants. The latest generation of the subcompact crossover was launched locally in 2019. Its introductory price is at P1,320,000.
Mazda CX-3’s latest generation follows the brand’s Kodo design language that embodies the perfect balance of sporty and sophisticated. The aesthetic differences between the latest generation and the previous one is subtle, which can be seen on the horizontal.
The front fascia of the new Mazda CX-3 now looks similar to that of the CX-9’s. It is flanked with halogen headlamps, standard bulb running lamps, and LED Front fog lamps. At the rear are cylindrical detailed tail lamps. It rides on 16" Alloy wheels to complete its look.
The spacious cabin comes with straightforward and minimalist interiors, following the Japanese brand’s signature aesthetic. Seats are wrapped in black premium fabric with the driver’s seat equipped with 6-Way Driver Manual Adjustability and 4-Way Front Passenger Manual Adjustability.
Touches of leather finishes are furnished on the shift knob and the steering wheel add to the sophistication of its styling. On the dashboard is a Digital Display Tachometer complete with a Trip Computer Meter Set for added convenience.
Technology & Safety Features
The Mazda CX-3 is equipped with the bare necessities in terms of entertainment features. It comes with the Mazda Connect system that has Bluetooth Hands-free capabilities. Audio comes out of a 6-speaker sound system which can also play sounds from CD’s and MP3’s.
In terms of safety, Mazda furnished the CX-3 with a Commander Control, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Smart Keyless Entry System with Remote Keyless Entry and Push Start Button, and Rearview Camera.
Platform & Chassis
The five-door Mazda CX-3’s platform is based on the Mazda 2 as it is the Japanese brand’s smallest crossover model. Front suspension comes in the form of McPherson Strut and rear Torsion Beam Axle suspension.
Stopping power comes from Ventilated Discs in front and Solid Discs at the rear. It is also equipped with Electric Parking Brake with Auto Brake Hold as standard, like other Mazda vehicles in the line-up.
Engine & Drivetrain
Under the hood of the Mazda CX-3 is a SKYACTIV-G 2.0L In-line 4-Cylinder DOHC gasoline engine. It is mated to a SKYACTIV-Drive 6-Speed Automatic with Sport Mode that sends power exclusively to the front wheels. It can produce 150 horsepower and 195 Nm of torque. The engine is also equipped with the brand’s signature G-Vectoring Control system.
