The fifth generation of the E-Class was introduced by Auto Nation Group in the Philippines in 2017. At launch, the Exclusive and Avantgarde variants are priced at Php 4,390,000 while the top-spec AMG Line is offered at Php 4,790,000.
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class Saloon adopts the brand’s latest design language similar to the C-Class and the S-Class. It dons a smoother and more premium appearance through a balance of fluid edges and contour lines, embodying a sense of refined sportiness. Up front is a bulging chrome grille flanked with Xenon headlamps and fog lamps. It rides on 16-inch alloys that come as standard for all variants.
Inside the Mercedes-Benz E-Class is a plethora of premium materials from the dashboard to the seats. Everything is soft to touch, clad in a neutral palette that exudes sheer opulence. All seats are wrapped in beige leather upholstery and equipped with electric adjustability. The dashboard is lined with a dark wooden finish where the turbine-like air-conditioning vents are installed. It also comes with a 64-color interior lighting system which is an improved version of the ambient lighting setup that the brand is known for. As expected from the five-seater executive sedan, legroom and headroom are generously provided.
Technology & Safety Features
On the center of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class’ cockpit is a 12.3-inch touchscreen multimedia entertainment system with USB, AUX-In, and Bluetooth capabilities. It comes navigation ready for added convenience.
In terms of safety, it is equipped with the standard systems that Mercedes-Benz vehicles are furnished with. These include an anti-lock brake system with acceleration skid control and brake assist system, stability control, cruise control, automatic climate control, front and rear parking sensors, hill start assist, tire pressure monitoring, and a start-stop system. A unique feature that the E-Class comes with is a drive pilot that enables automatic speed control and abiding by road markings.
Platform & Chassis
The E-Class can accommodate up to five individuals in its 2,939mm wheelbase. It is equipped with multi-link suspension in front and at the rear. Stopping power comes from ventilated discs on all sides.
Engine & Drivetrain
Under the hood of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class is a 2.0L 4-cylinder gasoline engine is mated to a 9G-Tronic automatic transmission that sends power exclusively to the rear wheels. It produces 184 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. The transmission offers five drive modes which are Comfort, Eco, Sport, Sport+, and Individual.
