Spanning ten generations, the Honda Accord is one of the most prolific models ever made by Honda since its inception in 1989. Even before that, its compact versions which had ranged from models years 1976 to 1989 were also no slouches in the sales department and overall quality.

So in short, best-selling does not even start to describe the long and very colorful career of the said Honda nameplate. This even comes to the extent that Honda gave the Accord name to wagons and a crossover.

For this article though, we shall focus on the 10th generation Philippines spec Honda Accord which is plain to see is indeed still very popular especially as a full-size sedan here in the country.

A balanced combination of sportiness, sophistication, and value

Starting with the exterior, there are some major changes made from its previous model. The 10th gen accord now has LED headlamps that seemingly fuse with the chrome grille. The bumper at the front along with the radiator mesh is also new. And as for the fog lamps, they now look downright futuristic.

At the rear, the 10th gen 2020 Honda Accord comes with a pair of exhaust pipes and also noteworthy is the interesting, honeycomb grille located on the rear bumper. The rear lights also flow around the corners of the rear of the vehicle.

The rear of the Accord is as elegant as it's front features

Overall, the exterior look of the 2020 Honda Accord follows the revamped designed language of the Honda lineup of vehicles. Sleek, sporty, yet very elegant is how many would describe the Accord and by extension, Honda’s vehicles today.

The interior also gets a lot of revisions; the dash is now simpler but as you stare at the thing long enough you will certainly appreciate the subtle elegance that the designers gave it.

There’s a tasteful amount of chrome accents. There are also some wood surfaces but these do not feel like the gaudy “wood” furniture of cars from yesteryears.

Features include an automatic dual-zone climate control system, a touchscreen infotainment system with a navigation system, Bluetooth connectivity, and many others. As for the seats, they are leather-trimmed and the driver seat can be actuated electronically.

Currently, in other markets, there are two engines available for the Honda Accord 2020. There’s a 2.4-liter i-VTEC engine that can make around 173 horsepower and 226 Nm of torque and a 3.5-liter i-VTEC V6 which makes a hefty 278 horsepower and 339 Nm of torque.

The more powerful V6 is still yet to be released for the Philippine market so we’ll just have to wait for that.

The current available 2.4 liter is a front-wheel-drive vehicle and is equipped with a 5-speed automatic transmission. There are manual variants but those too are not available here in the Philippines.

As for safety, the Accord comes with a whole slew of safety equipment. There’s ABS, EBD, lane departure alert, rear cameras, brake assist, ISOFIX, and many others.

Also of note is Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering platform which is their high-tech rigid frame which keeps passengers safe from the full impact of a crash.

So in terms of reliability and performance, the currently available 2.4 S NAVI Accord is a reliable vehicle. Note that it also offers a decently powerful engine. Couple that with its excellent handling then you have a fun car to drive.

Second, like its predecessors, the Accord is intended for the premium market. Its interior is comfortable and has a ton of features to keep the driver and all of its passengers comfortable. And due to its relatively robust engine and construction, the Accord can perform well in a lot of roles. It is after all, very versatile.

Take note that there are also some cons when it comes to the Accord. Some say that the controls for the infotainment system are confusing despite 2018 to revamp.

Moreover, the seating position for the driver can be a little bit too low for some and while some of you might like that from a vehicle that might also be a source of complaints about others.
