BMW 2 Series 2021 Overview
The vehicle is targeted towards a younger market looking for a luxury sedan that can cater to their daily needs and preferences. Beyond its sleek styling is a substantial amount of features the German brand is known for. Powering the 2-Series Gran Coupe is a 1.5-liter turbocharged B38 gasoline engine mated to a 7-speed Steptronic DCT that can take the vehicle from city drives to long-haul drives with ease.
Launch
The BMW 2-Series was first introduced globally in 2016. It is currently on its third generation after a recent facelift in 2019. The BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe recently made its debut in the Philippines in June 2020 with an introductory price of Php 2,990,000.

Exterior
The BMW 2-Series poses a confident and athletic look through its sleek LED headlamps, frameless doors, slightly sloping roofline, to the elongated rear LED taillights. Its low-slung stance creates a vision of sportiness, further emphasized by a larger grille compared to its previous generation. It rides on 17-inch light-alloy wheels with a double-spoke style and a two-tone color scheme that adds to the coupe’s strong character.
Interior
Stepping inside the BMW 2-Series is an indulgence of premium details. The cabin is a plethora of impressive exclusive design details, high-quality materials, and a fully modernized cockpit. Sport seats are furnished for driver and front passenger, wrapped in BMW’s finest upholstery called Sensatec. The electronically adjustable Illuminated Berlin seats come with memory foam much to the driver’s comfort.
On the dashboard is a digital display system that allows the driver to monitor the vehicle’s road performance at a glance. The central console is furnished with a digital shifter staying true to its driver-oriented layout.
Its rear space can hold up to 430 liters of cargo, which can be expanded further through the 40-20-40 rear folding seats.
Technology & Safety Features
The BMW 2-Series is decked with updated modern technology starting with the brand’s signature iDrive system. Front and center of the dashboard in an 8.8-inch touchscreen, navigation ready, infotainment system capable of connectivity through Bluetooth and USB. This central screen display allows the driver to view and control the vehicle’s features easily.
Among the safety features attached to the iDrive system is the parking assistant package that includes a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, active park distance control, and a reversing assistant. It is also equipped with a push start button to complement its keyless entry feature.
Platform & Chassis
The 5-seater subcompact sedan runs with an Independent MacPherson strut front suspension and an independent multi-link rear setup. Its UKL platform produces stunning road performance that showcases the brand’s superior German engineering. Stopping power comes from disc brakes all around.
Engine & Drivetrain
Under the hood of the BMW 2-Series subcompact sedan is a 1.5-liter turbocharged B38 gasoline engine that can produce 138 hp and 220 Nm of torque. The engine is attached to a 7-speed Steptronic double-clutch transmission that sends power exclusively to the front wheels.
The sedan comes with three drive modes which are Comfort, Eco-Pro, and Sport, to guarantee that the vehicle handles well in any driving condition. Drive modes can easily be switched through the cabin control panel.
