The all-new Nissan Terra is a midsize Sports Utility Vehicle that promises you one thing: It can take you anywhere. Flaunting a sculpted physique and packed with exciting innovations, this versatile vehicle is meant to compete with other 7-seater midsize SUVs such as Toyota Fortuner, Ford Everest, Isuzu mu-X, and Mitsubishi Montero Sport.
There are five variants available in the Philippines today namely, the base 2.5 EL MT 4x2, EL AT 4x2, 2.5 VE AT 4x2, 2.5 VL AT 4x2, and top-of-the-line 2.5 VL AT 4x4. It is offered with various body options including Aspen Pearl White, Galaxy Black, Brilliant Silver, Earth Brown, Fiery Red, Flare Metallic Gold, and Lunar Metallic Gray.
Globally, the Nissan Terra was unveiled in April 2018 at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, Terra being a Latin term for Earth. It was introduced as a replacement for the Nissan Pathfinder, which was available from 2005 to 2012, and sits in between the X-Trail and Patrol in terms of size and dimensions.
Locally, the Nissan SUV was launched in May 2018. Compared to other versions released worldwide, the Philippine variant is 3mm longer, and 15mm wider. In some markets such as the Middle East, the midsize SUV is offered with a 2.5-liter gasoline powertrain, while Nissan Philippines only offers a diesel powertrain.

The all-new Nissan Terra is a versatile SUV, measuring 4,885mm long, 1,865mm wide, with a height of 1,835mm. At the front, it displays the Japanese company’s signature V-Motion grille and modern-looking LED headlamps with an LED signature line. Exterior features such as the bumper, outside door mirrors, and outside door handles are finished in gloss black for the top-ranging VL 4x4 variant only.

Adding to the SUV's aggressive look is the tough body filled with subtle creases and lines. There are also running boards are attached on both sides that provide an off-road look. Supporting the vehicle is a set of 17-inch or 18-inch six-split spoke, aluminum-alloy wheels with charcoal highlights.
The Nissan Terra’s spacious cabin features a wide leg and headroom that can accommodate seven fully grown passengers. Higher variants are equipped with leather upholstery on Zero-gravity seats, the steering wheel, and shifter. Other variants come in either black, suede-like fabric, or black knitted fabric. Its dashboard is premium looking with silver and piano black highlights. It is complete with useful necessities and set on an integrated layout.

As for the second-row seats, they slide and are split into 60:40. It also offers a tip-up entry which means passengers can easily access the seats on the last row. The reclinable third row can be split into 50:50, providing more space for cargo storage at the back.

Providing entertainment is an eight-inch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (2-DIN 6.75-inch touchscreen display for the EL variants). The Nissan Terra comes with Nissan Intelligent Mobility which offers intelligent around-view monitors and an off-road information display.

Other innovations include a one-touch remote for tumbling and folding of seats and an HDMI port with monitors located at the ceiling. Higher variants are equipped with audible lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, parking sensors, and automatic headlights.
Platform & Chassis
This robust SUV is built with the Nissan F-Alpha platform that guarantees a pleasant ride whether in the city or off-roads. The suspension on the front is an Independent Double Wishbone with coil springs and a stabilizer bar, while the rear end is equipped with a multi-link suspension and a stabilizer bar. Braking is supported by discs at the front and drums at the rear.

Engine & drivetrain
All variants of the Nissan Terra are powered by a 2.5-liter YD25 DDTi inline-4 turbodiesel engine capable of generating 190 hp at 3,600 rpm and 450 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. The engine is coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission for the entry-level EL variant, and 7-speed automatic transmission with a manual mode for the rest of the variants.

Only the top-ranging VL variant gets a 4WD system that comes with a transfer select switch for seamlessly changing drivetrain configurations. It comes with a 2WD rear wheel drive, 4WD high gear for high-speed off-roading, and 4WD low gear for driving through steep and rough roads smoothly.
