Nissan Terra Financing: How much do you need to buy one?     

Nissan Philippines re-asserts itself in the midsize SUV wars with the refreshed Terra, some three years after the model was first introduced. Bridging the gap between the compact X-Trail and the full-size Patrol, the Terra had its beginnings in China, sold in five-seater guise.

The facelifted model first made itself known in the Middle East this year as a gasoline model, and carries a sportier appearance than before. But beyond looks, the new Terra also upgrades its range of onboard tech to keep up with both established and new rivals in its segment. If Nissan’s revamped SUV has caught your eye, here’s how much you’ll need to fork over for the privilege of driving one.      

Nissan Terra EL 2.5 4x2 MT

The base EL variant benefits from the presence of the updated fascia across the range, still featuring the trademark V-motion grille that looks stronger visually compared to the previous version. Quad-LED projector headlamps surround the larger intake, accompanied by the LED signature daytime running lights. The muscular profile terminates in a restyled tailgate, with a chrome bar linking the streamlined combination tail lamps.

Three seating rows decked out in fabric upholstery can accommodate a party of seven, with front occupants getting zero-gravity seats featuring manual adjustment. A new dashboard layout improves usability, showcasing the flat-bottomed urethane manual steering wheel that houses controls for the audio, hands-free communications, and driver-assist display. Five USB ports stand by for charging mobile device, and an 8-inch touchscreen display offers support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.   

Power is supplied by a 2.5-liter diesel engine with variable geometry turbo, delivering 187 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox. Safety features are limited to six airbags, anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, rear parking sensors, and vehicle dynamic control.   

The Nissan Terra EL comes in at Php 1,649,000, amounting to 36 monthly payments of Php 46,119 on a 20 percent downpayment or Php 329,800. Doubling the cash to 40 percent or Php 659,600 lowers the bill to Php 34,589, while extending the contract to 48 months results in an amortization of Php 27,838 monthly.

Stepping up to the Terra VE 4x2 retains most of the features of the entry-level variant, with the exception of a 7-speed automatic transmission with manual mode. A set of 18-inch alloy wheels contribute to the 225mm ground clearance. Interior features include floor ambient lighting and manual air-conditioning controls.

The Php 1,829,000 sticker price is payable with 30 percent downpayment or Php 365,800, which translates into 48 monthly payments of Php 51,153. Extending the contract to 48 months returns a monthly amortization of Php 41,168, while a higher downpayment of 40 percent or Php 731,600 results in a bill of Php 30,876.

For the Terra VL 4x2, silver roof rails and stepboards break the color monotony, while being equipped with rain-sensing wipers for the front. Drivers get a 10-way power adjustable seat, along with cruise control functionality on the steering wheel. 

Up to 10 beverage holders throughout the cabin can contain refreshments on the go. The dashboard houses a bigger 9-inch touchscreen monitor. No less than three 12-volt power sockets are available for all seating rows, while an electronic parking brake engages with just a flick of a switch.

Priced at Php 1,999,000, the Terra VL 4x2 can be had with a 30 percent downpayment or Php 599,700, which translates into 48 monthly payments of Php 39,370. A longer 60-month contract carries an amortization amount of Php 33,732, while putting down a downpayment of 50 percent or Php 999,500 results in a monthly payable of Php 24,094.

The flagship VL 4x4 brings auto-folding side mirrors that mount the turn signal lamps, along with front and rear LED fog lamps. Burgundy red leather comprises the interior trim, along with leather padding on the center console armrest. A high-contrast 7-inch Drive Assist Display legibly presents information on the vehicle’s operation, while a premium Bose eight-speaker is patched to the infortainment unit, which now includes an 11-inch flip-down rear monitor with HDMI input.

Up to seven passengers plus cargo can fit inside 

A four-wheel drivetrain with low-gear capability comes with an electronic locking rear differential. As part of Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility, the Intelligent Around View Monitor (AVM) features moving object detection and off-road monitor. This is accompanied by other driver-assist features such as Forward-Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Blind-Spot Warning, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. A total of eight front and rear parking sensors is standard, along with a tire pressure monitoring system.  

The Terra VL 4x4 AT carries a sticker price of Php 2,339,000. On a downpayment of 20 percent or Php 467,000, it carries 36 monthly payments of Php 65,417 each. Doubling the cash payment to 40 percent or Php 935,600 means a recurring bill of Php 39,486 for 48 months, or Php 33,830 on a 60-month contract.  

Propulsion is still through a 2.5-liter turbodiesel mill
