The MG RX8 is a 7-seater midsize SUV that is a rebadged version of the Roewe RX8. According to The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI), this SUV should be arriving this year, joining the local lineup that consists of the MG ZS, MG 5, MG 6, and MG RX5. As such, no prices and variants are available at the moment. Looking at the global model, the vehicle is expected to be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine capable of generating 224 horsepower and 360 Nm of torque. It is connected to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Dimensions-wise, the RX8 is 4,923 mm long, 1,930 mm wide, and 1,810 mm high. Also, it comes with a wheelbase and ground clearance rated at 2,850 mm and 202 mm, respectively. Take note, the said specifications may vary once the PH-spec model arrives on our shores. Upon arrival, this SUV will go up against the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Montero Sport, and Ford Everest.

The RX8 is sold under the Roewe brand in China. As such, what the Philippine market will be getting is basically a rebadged version of the said vehicle. The same model is also offered in the Indian market.
The RX8 will be introduced by MG Philippines next year. It is set to go up against the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Montero Sport, and Ford Everest. MG Philippines has yet to confirm the final local specs of the RX8. If we look into the model that’s currently offered in China, it comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that delivers 218 hp and 360 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
The MG RX8 comes with a bold and composed exterior. It comes with a large front chrome grille as well as a muscular bumper, distinctive fog lamps, and sharp-looking headlights. The RX8 also comes with crisp character lines that run to its side. As a whole, the MG RX8 looks to be a serious contender in the local midsize SUV segment.
In terms of dimensions, the MG RX8 measures 4923mm long, 1930mm wide, and 1840 mm tall. It also has a wheelbase of 2850mm. The MG RX8 also comes with a 202mm ground clearance as well as an 800mm water-wading depth.
A spacious leather-clad cabin accompanies the trademark flat-bottom steering wheel, with a 10-inch touchscreen featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto taking pride of place at the center of the dashboard. MG Philippines added that the RX8 can accommodate up to seven individuals.
On the other hand, the Chinese-spec RX8 also comes with a panoramic sunroof as well as wood-like trims on the dashboard, center console, and door panels.
MG Philippines has yet to release details as to what will the tech and safety features of the local-spec RX8. However, we could expect that it will be equipped with a 10-inch touchscreen featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto taking pride of place at the center of the dashboard. We could also hope the MG RX8 comes with wireless mobile phone charging.
The MG RX8 Philippines is expected to come with a double-wishbone front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension. In terms of braking power, the RX8 could come with disc brakes for all four wheels.

No colors for the MG RX8 are available just yet.
The MG RX8 is expected to offer a gasoline powertrain, which is different from its mainstream rivals such as the Mitsubishi Montero Sport and Isuzu mu-X.
