MG Philippines officially launched the MG 4 EV on October 2023. At launch, its two available variants are the Standard and the Lux. These trims are priced at Php 1,468,888 and Php 1,738,888 respectively.
On the outside, the MG 4 EV leans towards the sporty side thanks to its sharp closed-off nose and its smooth lines. Available exterior equipment on the MG 4 EV includes LED headlamps, LED daytime running lamps, power-folding and power-adjustable side mirrors, and a set of 17 or 18-inch aero wheels depending on the trim. Size-wise, the MG 4 EV is 4,287mm long, 1,836mm wide, and 1,504mm tall. It also has a wheelbase length of 2,705mm.
Inside, the MG 4 EV gets a stylish interior leaning on the minimalist side. It does, however, come with plenty of features like an electronically adjustable driver’s seat, a dial-type gear selector, a floating-type center console, and a push-to-start button.
For the rear cabin, it gets a 60:40 split-folding seat. Likewise present is an automatic climate control system, and plenty of soft-touch leather and fabric interior surfaces.
Positioned on the flat dashboard of the MG 4 is a 10.25-inch touchscreen. This comes standard with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity. The touchscreen is linked to a four-piece speaker system, and a wireless smartphone charging pad is provided.
For safety, this MG model gets a total of six airbags, anti-lock braking, electronic brakeforce distribution, stability control, cornering brake control, hill-hold control, and traction control, among others.
Those are supported by an intelligent speed alert, lane keep assist, blind spot monitor, autonomous emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.
Other safety features aboard the MG 4 are rear parking sensors, a 360-degree view camera (Lux), ISOFIX child seat anchors, speed-sensing door locks, and an engine immobilizer.
The Standard variant of the MG 4 gets a motor that can generate up to 168 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. It offers a range of up to 350 km.
The Lux variant meanwhile, packs a powerplant that can generate 201 hp and 250 Nm of torque. It has a range of up to 435 km.
There are three available color options for the 2024 MG 4 EV. There’s red, orange, and black.
The MG 4 EV is the most competitively priced model within its segment. It undercuts even the Nissan LEAF, which is touted as the most affordable Japanese-branded EV in the country. But despite its affordability, the MG 4 is a sporty ride that’s filled to the brim with features. It has an especially tight turning radius that one should experience via a test drive. Its one weakness though, is the lack of color options since it only has three.
