The Lexus LM was initially launched at the Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition held last April 16, 2019. It is based on its sister company’s successful model the Toyota Alphard but is slightly longer, made with fresh and more rigid structural components, and offers a more efficient seating configuration.
By the end of 2019, Lexus started the sale of this luxury minivan in China and other parts of Asia. It was then released for the Philippine market in 2021.
On the front of the LM is the signature Lexus spindle grille. The rest of its body then follows the familiar shape and design of the Toyota Alphard model that it is based on.
For exterior features, it comes with a power rear door, electronic slide side doors, a twin power moonroof, power-retractable side mirrors, LED headlamps with adaptive high beams and auto-leveling, rain-sensing wipers, LED taillights, sequential turn signal lamps, LED daytime running lamps, etc.
Depending on the trim, the LM can either seat up to seven or up to four occupants. For the four-seater, the rear cabin gets two captain chairs, a refrigerator, and a cabin separator. The seven-seater meanwhile comes in a three-row configuration.
The front cabin, in turn, features a wood trim steering wheel and dashboard, a table (7-seater model), a triple-zone automatic air-conditioning system with rear vents, and eight-way power-adjustable front seats, among others.
Providing infotainment inside the Lexus LM is a 13.3-inch onboard display with USB, iPod playback function, AUX, and Bluetooth connectivity. It is paired with a Mark Levinson Sound System with 17 speakers.
Safety is guaranteed as it is built with complete surrounding airbags, an anti-lock braking system with brake assist and electronic brake distribution, traction control, vehicle stability control system, child safety locks, parking sensors, crash sensors, front and side-impact beams, engine check warning, and more. Reinforcing those is a driver assist safety kit dubbed as the Lexus Safety System+ 2.0.
The Lexus LM is fitted with a McPherson Strut suspension at the front and a Double Wishbone suspension at the rear. It is also built with an advanced suspension setup featuring a Swing Valve technology. Its braking power is assisted by ventilated discs at the rear and discs at the rear.
The Lexus LM uses a 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine that’s good for 296 horsepower and 361 Nm of torque. Power is sent to its front wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
The Lexus LM is one of the more luxurious MPV models in the Philippine market. The seven-seater variant is pretty plush, but no other model in the local market offers a four-seater configuration straight from the factory. Its engine is also on the peppier side, at least when compared to its rivals.
