Initially introduced by the German brand in 1972 and has been a staple in the Mercedes line-up since. Locally, it was launched by Auto Nation Group in 2013. The currently offered model received its last facelift in 2017 with prices ranging from Php 9,200,000 to Php 11,300,000.
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class boasts of a timeless aesthetic that the nameplate is known for. After its 2017 facelift came smoother body lines and a prominent chrome grille with the iconic Mercedes-Benz emblem that stands on the front and center of the hood. Flanked in front are LED headlamps. All variants ride on 18-inch alloys and are equipped with a sunroof that come as standard.
Inside the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is a range of luxurious features and finishes, with a perfect balance of quilted premium leather, fine wool, and authentic metal elements. The spacious cabin is designed for utmost comfort and convenience. It comes with an Energizing Comfort Control that allows you to adjust the climate, seats, lighting, and multimedia from the second row to create a personal ambiance preferred by the passengers. Rear seats of top range variants are equipped with massaging, heating, and halfway recline features. Technology & Safety Features
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class comes with a slew of tech and safety features starting with two 12.3-inch display screens for the driver’s instrument cluster and the infotainment system. Its dashboard looks similar to that of the E-Class, which is modernized and fully-digital. The infotainment system is capable of connectivity through USB and Aux-In. An added control feature for the driver is the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel.
In terms of safety, the German brand equipped the S-Class with an anti-lock brake system with electronic brake-force distribution, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, Active Speed Limit Assist, Active Lane Change Assist, Remote Parking Assist, and adaptive cruise control.
Platform & Chassis
The S-Class comes with an Airmatic suspension system that helps improve the ride. Stopping power comes from ventilated discs in front and discs at the rear.
Engine & Drivetrain
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class comes in three engine options for each variant. First is the base variant, S-Class S 400 Blue Hybrid, which is powered by a 3.5L 6-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 306 hp and 370 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 7G Tronic Plus automatic transmission that sends power exclusively to the rear wheels.
Meanwhile, the S-Class S 350 LWB comes with a 3.0L 6-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 258 hp and 620 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 7G Tronic Plus automatic transmission that sends power to all wheels.
Lastly, under the hood of the top-spec 500 S-Class S500 LWB is a 4.7L 8-cylinder gasoline engine that produces an astounding 455 hp and 700 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 7G Tronic Plus automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels.
