Toyota Rush Review by Philkotse experts

We've got to give it to the Rush, it is a stylish SUV styled vehicle whose price won't break your bank

If you’re in the market for something larger and sportier, then the Toyota Rush might just be the thing for you. It also has a similar engine and chassis as Toyota Avanza, thus it will provide the same level of robustness as its MPV brother. For the 2021 model, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) now offers it with a 7-seater configuration as standard for all variants.

In addition, this small SUV got a rear-wheel-drive layout and a 5-speed manual transmission. All the said features make the Rush a great value-for-money vehicle for its price that ranges from Php 983,000 to Php 1,100,000.

Full-scale Review of all Suzuki Ertiga models

One of the most practical options in the local market

Another MPV that we’ve raved about before is the Suzuki Ertiga. One can say that it is less conspicuous than the Rush. However, the best feature it can offer is its 7-seating configuration at an affordable price. For its default configuration, the Suzuki MPV has 153 L of trunk space. Fold those rear seats though and it can expand up to 803 L.

The Suzuki Ertiga is also quite durable and it can actually take on rough roads with no issues at all. Also, take note that this particular variant is the 1.5 MT Black Edition which, as the name implies, has a dark-themed interior. This makes it a bit more resistant to stains which is a boon to those who have little kids.

Suzuki Swift review by Phikotse experts

The Swift, apart from affordable, is also one of the more stylish hatchbacks currently on the market

The Suzuki Swift 1.2 GL CVT is many things but one thing is glaringly obvious, it is pretty affordable and sporty-looking. While yes, there’s the cheaper Suzuki S-Presso and Celerio in the brand's Philippine lineup, this particular model of the Swift is just the right mix of affordability and on-board tech.

Suzuki Swift, in general, is also known for its “go-kart” like handling. A quality that car enthusiasts really like about this vehicle. Essentially, it is the more practical, more reliable, and cheaper Japanese version of the Mini Cooper.

Honda Brio review by Phikotse experts.

The RS variant comes with a sportier appeal

The Honda Brio is the Japanese car brand's entry-level vehicle and the more affordable hatchback option to the newly-introduced Honda City Hatchback. With the RS "Black Top" variant, it comes with a sportier look thanks to the addition of variant-exclusive exterior features such as the gloss black front grille, RS design rear bumper, RS design side sill garnish, and a black top paint.

Under the hood, the entry-level hatchback is powered by a 1.2-liter gasoline engine that is capable of generating 89 hp and 110 Nm of torque. Since it comes with a small engine displacement, the Brio offers good fuel efficiency especially if the engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Mitsubishi Mirage review by Phikotse experts

Mitsubishi boasts the Mirage's good fuel economy

Like its bigger Mitsubishi Mirage G4 sedan counterpart, the Mirage GLX 1.2 CVT is an affordable car that will reliably get you to where you need to with the least amount of fuel possible. It is also smaller than the G4 in lieu of a trunk. As such, maneuvering through traffic and parking can be a bit easier.

The Mitsubishi Mirage is the brand's entry-level model. As for the pricing, the base Mirage GLX 1.2 MT comes with a price tag of Php 704,000, while the top-spec Mirage GLX 1.2 CVT is priced at Php 765,000.

Mitsubishi Mirage G4 review by Philkotse experts

Same with the hatch version, the Mirage G4 is a reliable and fuel-efficient car. No-fuss no muss

Despite having only four cylinders that its competitors in the sedan market segment, the Mitsubishi Mirage G4 is a model that we cannot ignore. It’s popular, it’s affordable, and it doesn’t screw around when it comes to fuel efficiency. The engine can be anemic especially on the low end. However, that very same three-cylinder can return you an amazing 14 to 20 km/L city driving.

Isuzu D-Max review by Philkotse experts

A true workhorse from Isuzu

Like the Toyota Hilux J, this Isuzu D-Max LT 1.9 is a simple version of the model. Inside, the cabin is dominated by fabric with a lot of plastic. Well, if this is going to be used as a business mover, then Japanese car brand Isuzu must conduct cost-cutting measures to make this variant as affordable as possible.

Under the hood, this variant is powered by a 1.9-liter RZ4E-TC 4-cylinder diesel engine capable of generating 148 hp and 350 Nm of torque. It is coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission with a reverse lock-out which provides a safer shifting to reverse gear.
