1. 2020 Suzuki Ertiga vs Honda Mobilio: Preppy vs Sporty
MPVs are very popular here in the Philippines. This is because they’re ideal as family vehicles due to the space they provide.
On top of that, they’re usually cheaper than other high capacity vehicles in the Philippine market like midsize to full-size SUVs. A lot of MPVs are even cheaper than pickup trucks.
And of course, Filipinos as you know, are very family oriented so an affordable MPV is a very attractive deal especially for those living with a sizable family.
Two of the most popular MPVs here in the country right now are the Honda Mobilio and the Suzuki Ertiga. Both can seat up to seven people and both are quite affordable.
Then this begs the question: Which is better on paper? The Honda Mobilio? Or the Suzuki Ertiga?
Let's compare these two very handsome MPVs shall we

2. 2020 Suzuki Ertiga vs Honda Mobilio: Dimensions
If you have seen an Ertiga and a Mobilio parked side by side, then you must have noted that these two MPVs are going for vastly different flavors.
The Ertiga is sleek and elegant with smooth curves and just the right amount of chrome. It also features a silhouette more typical of an MPV.
The Mobilio, on the other hand, was designed to look very sporty. It features a lot of sharp angles and an angrier front fascia. Note also that the Honda-made MPV is much more “wagon-like” than the Ertiga, and some are even saying that it’s essentially a larger, longer version of the Brio.
The Mobilio is very youthful and sporty. No doubt about that
In terms of size, the Suzuki Ertiga measures 4,395mm long, 1,735mm wide, has a height of 1,690mm, and a wheelbase that’s 2,740mm long.
It also has a minimum ground clearance of 180mm. On the other side of the coin, the Honda Brio has a length of 4,398mm, a width of 1,683mm, and a height of 1,603mm. The Honda MPV also has a wheelbase length of 2,652mm and a minimum ground clearance of 189mm.
On the other hand, the Suzuki Ertiga is sleek and regal looking
As you can see, the Honda Mobilio is a bit longer, while the Ertiga is wide and markedly taller. The Honda Mobilio does have more ground clearance, though the 9mm difference is marginal.
3. 2020 Suzuki Ertiga vs Honda Mobilio: Interior
Inside, both the Ertiga and the Mobilio can comfortably seat seven people. When it comes to default cargo space (all seats in use), the latter has more at 223 liters, while the Suzuki-made MPV has 153 liters. With their third-row seats folded, however, the Ertiga has 550 liters, while the Mobilio has 470 liters.
When it comes to driving amenities, notable features found both on the Ertiga and the Mobilio is a digital information display with a tachometer and a speedometer, and a keyless push to start system for their top of the line variants.
The Honda Mobilio, however, has a rear window defogger and the Suzuki Ertiga 2020 does not. Inversely, many have considered the Ertiga’s D-shaped steering wheel to be better than a round one like the one aboard the Mobilio.
The Mobilio has a very neat and well arranged dashboard
For passenger amenities, both the Ertiga and the Mobilio have sliding 2nd-row seats, fabric-covered seats, an ample amount of cubby holes and cupholders, four audio speakers, and cabin dome lights for the front and rear cabins.
The top-of-the-line Ertiga GLX and GL, however, have two 12 volt sockets with one positioned for the 2nd row, whereas the Mobilio only has one.

The Ertiga is pretty well arranged too but some of you might not like the faux wood
As of March 2020, the Ertiga lineup also received an updated version which now comes with a new center armrest for the 2nd row, and automatic climate control with rear independent manual control.
The A/C system aboard the Mobilio, on the other hand, is a simpler manual AC also with rear vents with manual control.
The Mobilio, like the Ertiga comes with sliding second row seats
When it comes to touchscreen infotainment systems, the unit aboard the Ertiga GLX is ten inches in size, larger than the 2020 Honda Mobilio’s seven-inch unit. Do note that while the two are both capable of offline navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, AUX, and USB connectivity; the one aboard the Honda made-MPV has HDMI.
Inside, the Ertiga is as comfortable but the new automatic AC will definitely attract more takers
4. 2020 Suzuki Ertiga vs Honda Mobilio: Engine and Performance
When it comes to what’s under the hood, these two MPVs are both powered by a 1.5-liter mill.
The one on the Honda Mobilio is an inline-4 SOHC with i-VTEC. It makes a maximum of 117 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque with the power sent to the front wheels through a five-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission.
The Ertiga, on the other hand, comes with the K15B engine, which can make 103 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque. Power is also sent to the front wheels through a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic.
So yes, the Mobilio is indeed more powerful than the Ertiga, but let's not forget's the K15B's stellar track record when it comes to reliability.
Conversely, the Mobilio's L15Z1 is also a good engine so there's that. The Mobilio, as many people have said before, is also fun to drive.
When regards to suspension systems, the Mobilio uses a MacPherson strut with coil spring and stabilizer for the front, and a torsion beam with coil spring for the rear. The Ertiga meanwhile uses a MacPherson strut with coil spring for its front end, and similarly, a torsion beam with coil spring for its rear.

The Mobilio looks aggressive, but it's built for practicality and economy

Do note however that even while the Mobilio is a bit more expensive, one cannot ignore its attractive, youthful, and very sporty styling, as well as its better suite of safety features.
Again, there are no clear winners here, and as always we’ll let the car buyer decide in the end. Do you want the slightly cheaper, and sleeker Ertiga? Or are you more in tune with the sporty-looking, more expensive but more powerful Mobilio with its more comprehensive safety kit?
The same goes for the Ertiga. These two vehicles aren't fast, but they're definitely comfortable
