This is the most powerful version of the luxury SUV so far.

Lamborghini no doubt treasures the Urus luxury SUV in its lineup. Just over a month after the automaker revealed the Urus Performante for the 2023 model year, it now pulls the sheets off the even more powerful Urus S.

The Urus S not only brings more power but a wide range of customization options

It's almost as if Sant’Agata Bolognese’s raging bull is so eager to emphasize that the Urus is the crown jewel of the brood. In any case, even Lamborghini’s boss makes no secret of this partiality.

“Urus has shown how attractive the perfect combination between the versatility of an SUV and the sportiness of a Lamborghini can be even in everyday use: Urus S fits perfectly alongside the new Urus Performante, for those who choose performance, luxury and versatility at the pure state,” said Automobili Lamborghini Chairman & CEO Stephan Winkelmann.

“The success of the Urus, with over 20,000 units produced, confirms its credentials as the first and inimitable Super SUV: the Urus S elevates that reputation to an even higher level.”

Exterior

Of course, the new Urus S still carries the familiar silhouette that first captivated the world in 2018. However, there are tweaks befitting the latest trim level’s stature. For instance, the new front bumper incorporates more refined lines with the prominent black line present on the grille.

A revised front fascia serves as the highlight of the Urus S

A lightweight hood rendered in painted carbon fiber carries black matte air intakes,  while a stainless steel underbody also rendered in matte black can be found down below. Both the hood and the body are available in either glossy or matte finishes, in combination with a range of body colors.

An optional exposed carbon fiber roof underscores the SUV’s sportiness, while the revised rear bumper helps give the Urus S a sleeker and more distinct line. The matte black apron features redesigned exhaust tips made of brushed steel, and can also be ordered in other finishes such as bright chrome from Lamborghini’s Ad Personam customization service.

A set of 21-inch alloys are offered by default

The new Urus S rolls on a set of 21-inch alloy wheels, which can be switched out for 22-inch versions with a matte diamond titanium finish or even 23-inch wheels in a diamond bronze version.

Interior

Five occupants can still take their places within the cabin of the Urus S, but this time, they’ll be surrounded with even more customization choices. The stitching pattern on the Urus Performante has been carried over to the Urus S, offered on the new Bicolor Sportivo trim and new Bicolor Sophisticated option.

The interior should be familiar to fans of the nameplate

Customers can choose between the Sportivo’s more discreet use of color, while the Sophisticated brings two-tone upholstery that partners black leather with contrasting color options, from the standard cream and brown to Blu Leandro and Verde Aura.

Tech & Safety

Lamborghini has not enumerated the specific tech pieces offered on the new Urus S, only venturing to say that the new model comes with a state-of-the-art connected navigation system. More functions can also be enabled through smartphone and smartwatch, including a virtual key that allows access to the vehicle.

Safety features have likewise not been specified, but the Urus S is expected to bring driver-assist equipment. These include Forward Collision Mitigation, Highway Assistant Lane Departure Warning, Highway Assistant Lane Keeping Assist, and the Lamborghini Connect Vehicle Tracking System.

Engine & Drivetrain

This is where Lamborghini justifies the fanfare behind the new Urus S, with the same 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 power unit used by the Performante but massaged to put out 666 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque.

The 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine has been tweaked to produce 666 horsepower

Acceleration to 100 kilometers per hour from a standstill is at 3.5 seconds, taking nine seconds more to reach 200 kilometers per hour. The rated top speed is 305 kilometers per hour.

The new Urus S packs four driving modes and three off-road calibration settings

A total of four driving modes (Road, Sport, Corsa, Ego) work with the adaptive air suspension system to deliver the Urus S chassis over a variety of road conditions in both sedate and spirited driving. There are three specific calibrations for off-road driving as well: Earth, Snow, and Sand.

Pricing

Lamborghini is pricing the 2023 Urus S at 192,651 euros (Php 10.1 million at today’s exchange rates).
