The crossover segment in the Philippine market is getting even more interesting. Ford and Toyota are two latest car brands in the country that launched its respective challengers in the tightly contested segment. Ford introduced the Territory while Toyota launched the Corolla Cross.
These two crossover models each have variants that are pretty close to each other in terms of price. With that, here’s a spec sheet battle between the Ford Territory Titanium+ and the Toyota Corolla Cross 1.8 G CVT.

2. 2020 Ford Territory Titanium+ vs Toyota Corolla Cross 1.8 G CVT: Exterior
In terms of dimensions, the Ford Territory Titanium+ is 4,580 mm in length, 1,936 mm wide, and 1,674 mm in height. Its wheelbase is 2,716 mm long, and it also has a minimum ground clearance of 180 mm.
Compare that to the Toyota Corolla Cross G, which is 4,460 mm in length, 1,825 mm wide, and 1,620 mm in height. Its wheelbase is 2,640 mm long, and it has a minimum ground clearance of 165 mm.

Overall, the Territory Titanium+ is a bit longer, wider, and taller. It also has more ground clearance and has a longer wheelbase. As such, the numbers say that the Corolla Cross G is more compact than the Ford crossover.

As for exterior features, both the Territory Titanium+ and the Corolla Cross G have LED rear combination lamps, LED fog lamps, and power adjust with auto fold side mirrors.
Note however that the Ford crossover has LED daytime running lights, auto-dimming LED headlamps and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Those are features that the Corolla Cross G variant lacks.

Both the Territory Titanium+ and the Corolla Cross G can fit five passengers. The Territory Titanium+ however is obviously better equipped when it comes to in-car features as it comes with a larger 10-inch touchscreen with Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
It also has more in the way of USB ports, charging ports, and it even has wireless charging. Its seats are also covered in leather providing a more premium feel.

In comparison, the Corolla Cross G is equipped with a smaller 6.8-inch display that can connect via T-Link. It only has one charging port though, and its seats are clad in fabric.
While both crossovers have automatic climate control, the Territory Titanium+ has rear vents, while the Corolla Cross G does not.

In terms of driving amenities, the story is still the same. The Territory Titanium+ gives its driver more tools and toys. It has an electronically adjustable driver’s seat, multiple drive modes, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, as well as a 10-inch instrument cluster.
Note however that the higher-spec Toyota Corolla Cross 1.8 V HV variant can match the Titanium+ in terms of interior features, but more on that later.
4. 2020 Ford Territory Titanium+ vs Toyota Corolla Cross 1.8 G CVT: Engine and Performance
Under the hood, the engines of the Territory and the Corolla Cross are quite different.
The 1.5-liter inline-4 gasoline mill standard on the Territory has forced-induction. The said engine can make up to 141 horsepower and 225 Nm of torque. Compare that to the Corolla Cross’ 1.8-liter inline-4 gasoline engine that makes slightly less at 138 horsepower and 172 Nm of torque.
These two crossover models also have different rear suspension types. The Territory has a multi-link independent suspension for the rear, while the Corolla Cross has a torsion beam type. Both, however, do have the same MacPherson Strut type front suspensions.
The Territory Titanium+ also has a larger set of 18-inch wheels. The Corolla Cross G on the other hand rides on a set of 17-inch wheels.
In terms of what’s similar between the two mechanically, both are front-wheel-drive, and they also use a continuously variable transmission with a manual mode. Both models also have disc brakes all around.

5. 2020 Ford Territory Titanium+ vs Toyota Corolla Cross 1.8 G CVT: Safety
When talking about passive safety, the Corolla Cross 1.6 G and the Territory Titanium+ are as competent as each other. Both have dual front airbags, side airbags, and curtain airbags. The Toyota crossover however does have a driver’s knee airbag.
On the more active side of things, the Territory Titanium+ has more with its autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with forward-collision warning, blind-spot detection, and lane departure warning. To top it off, the Ford crossover is also equipped with an active park assist system that enables it to park itself.
Do note though that the higher-spec Corolla Cross 1.8 V HV has a comparably competent active safety kit since it is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense tech.
As examples of modern crossovers, both come standard with stability control, traction control, anti-lock braking, rear parking sensors, reverse cameras, and hill-start assist.

You might be wondering why we’re comparing the entry-level Corolla Cross with the top-of-the-line Territory Titanium+, right? Well, this car matchup is based on its respective price point.
