All-new Toyota Corolla Cross PH debut: Full specs, Pricing revealed

The crossover segment in the Philippines is becoming even more exciting as a new player enters the arena yet again. Some of you might still have a hang from Ford Philippines’ re-entry in the crossover segment.

Now, it’s Toyota Motor Philippines’ (TMP) turn to unleash its challenger in the competitive crossover segment. Say hello to the 2020 Toyota Corolla Cross.

The 2020 Toyota Corolla Cross is a five-seater crossover that comes with a bold and composed stance. It’s a vehicle that combines sportiness and functionality, which makes it an ideal vehicle for individuals who have a diverse lifestyle.

The Philippines-spec Toyota Corolla Cross is offered in two variants that either comes with a gasoline or a hybrid engine. The 1.8 G CVT is the entry-level variant and it comes with a gasoline engine while the top-spec 1.8 V HV has a hybrid power unit.

TMP says the Corolla Cross is designed to be a stylish urban vehicle that combines Toyota’s signature “QDR” (quality, durability, and reliability) with style and functionality.

Aside from the hybrid technology, the Corolla Cross also features two of Toyota’s most advanced car technologies today, the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA), and Toyota Safety Sense (TSS).

The Corolla Cross for the Philippine market looks similar to the one that’s available in Thailand. Overall, this crossover is sized smaller than the Toyota RAV4 but it’s relatively longer and wider as compared to the Toyota Rush.

The Corolla Cross comes with an imposing front end that’s integrated with sharp LED headlights, large grille, and an aggressive bumper. Moreover, the LED daytime running lights add character to the Corolla Cross’ overall appeal. 

Look at that wide fender flares

Turning at the side, the Toyota Corolla Cross 2020 comes with sharp character lines as well as prominent fender flares. You also can’t help but notice the Corolla Cross’ 18-inch alloy wheels that give this crossover extra style points.

The Corolla Cross is fitted with distinctive taillights

Aside from having a bold and sleek exterior, Toyota also wants to make the Corolla Cross as versatile as it can be. To prove that point, Toyota equipped this crossover with black claddings that extend from the front, side, and all the way to the rear. Toyota’s new crossover also comes with wraparound taillights and a roof spoiler.

2020 Toyota Corolla Cross comes with a dark interior theme

The interior of the Corolla Cross for our market gets a black theme instead of the Terra Rosa cabin seen in the Thai and Vietnamese Corolla Cross specs. However, you’ll be glad to know that the top-spec Corolla Cross for the Philippine market comes with an 8-inch multimedia touchscreen that’s integrated with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

Leather seats are also equipped in the top-spec hybrid variant while pure gasoline-powered Corolla Cross has fabric seats. Of note, both variants come with a push start system and speed-sensing door locks.

TMP added that the Corolla Cross is designed with large door openings that make entering or exiting the vehicle easy even when you’re carrying a child.

2020 Toyota Corolla Cross can accommodate up to 5 individuals

In terms of safety, the top-spec 2020 Corolla Cross is packed with features that will give you confidence and peace of mind while you’re out on the road. It is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) that features advanced safety tech such as pre-collision system, adaptive cruise control, lane departure alert, lane tracing alert, and automatic high beam.

Aside from the TSS, the top-spec variant also gets blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert system. Both variants come with seven airbags.

2020 Toyota Corolla Cross is equipped with advanced safety tech

Under the hood, the 2020 Corolla Cross is powered by a 1.8-liter engine. The G variant is equipped with a 1.8-liter gasoline engine that delivers 138 hp and 172 Nm of torque.

The Toyota Corolla Cross V Hybrid variant also comes with a 1.8-liter gasoline hybrid engine that generates a maximum power output of 120 hp and 142 Nm of torque. The top-spec Corolla Cross also comes with three driving modes: Eco, Power, and EV.

The Corolla Cross is all-set to go up against its rivals in the local crossover segment

The Toyota Corolla Cross 2022 with a starting price of Php 1,303,000 while the top-spec Hybrid is priced at Php 1,774,000. TMP will also be making the Corolla Cross Hybrid variant available through the Balloon Payment Plus financing plan.

The Corolla Cross, with its 1.8 V HV (Hybrid) and 1.8 G CVT variants will be available at Toyota dealerships nationwide from August 26, 2020.
