The MG RX5 is a compact, 5-door, 5-seater model. In the Philippine market, it has three different variants. These are the RX5 Core 1.5 MT, the RX5 Style 1.5 AT, and the RX5 Alpha 1.5 AT. The MG RX5 price ranges from Php 1,058,888 to Php 1,298,888.
Under the hood, the Philippine-spec MG RX5 uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine capable of producing up to 167 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. It then uses a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox sending power to its front wheels.
Size-wise, the RX5 comes with a length of 4,545mm, a width of 1,855mm, and a height of 1,719mm. It then has a wheelbase of 2,700mm.
Locally, the MG RX5 competes against the likes of the Mazda CX5, Hyundai Tucson, Subaru Forester, Ford Territory, among others.
Launch
Morris Garage or simply MG relaunched in the Philippines in October 2018 under The Covenant Car Company. In the same year, the MG RX5 was offered to the public. It was initially available in two variants, the Core and Style. After some time, a higher variant named Alpha was released in the market.

MG RX5 Exterior
One noticeable feature of the MG RX5 2022 is its beefed up built that measures 4,545mm long, 1,855mm wide, and 1,719mm tall. Its fascia bears a horizontal chrome grille embellished with the MG badge. A pair of nicely shaped halogen projector headlights with LED daytime running lights complements the grill. The Style variant comes with chrome-colored front and rear skid plates.
The body of the MG RX5 is designed with graceful character lines that contributes to the vehicle’s aerodynamics. A roof rail is available in some variants. The rear is affixed with frameless wipers, high mount stop lighting, and LED tail lamps.
MG RX5 Interior
The inside of the RX5 Philippines is relaxed and sophisticated, thanks to the beige motif. Its panels, trims, and dashboard are made with high-quality plastic materials. The wood trim in the center console is pleasing to look at.
The steering wheel, cushioned with black leather is premium to hold and comes with audio mounted controls. Standard MG RX5 variants come with fabric seats while the Style model offers leather seats. The cabin is spacious and can fit five fully grown adults.
MG RX5 Technology & Safety Features
The MG RX5 2022 is fitted with an eight-inch touchscreen display capable of supporting Apple Carplay. Bluetooth and USB connectivity are options for Android users. Six speakers are strategically placed inside the cabin.
A 12V accessory socket found in the front and rear can be used for mobile devices. The Style variant of the MG RX5 is built with power heated side mirrors. On the other hand, standard features of the RX5 are front dual airbags, anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, parking sensors, alarm system with immobilizer, auto door locking system, and ISOFIX attachment points for child passengers.
MG RX5 Platform & Chassis
This front-engine, front-wheel-drive automobile is built using a Macpherson Strut suspension at the front and multi-link suspension system at the back. The MG RX5 is equipped with a seven-speed TST dual-clutch transmission.
