While initially introduced in Japan in 2017, the eight-generation Toyota Camry XV70’s facelift was first introduced in the United States and in Europe.
Now in 2021, it has finally reached its home country of Japan, which also marked the facelifted Camry’s debut in Asia. With that in mind, it’s only a matter of time for ASEAN countries, including the Philippines, to receive the facelifted Toyota Camry.
The refreshed 2021 Toyota Camry Sports variant
As for its changes, one can call it subtle. It comes with tech upgrades, as well as some changes to its exterior features. For starters, the lower portion of the grille gets a more visible center air intake, while the upper grille linking the two headlamps looks different.
Do note that the facelifted Camry for the Japanese market received two versions. There’s the Sports variant and the Standard variant. The Sports variant, as the name implies, bears edgier visual cues like larger faux vents, a larger splitter, a blacked-out LED taillight housing, more black colored trim pieces, as well as a two-tone blacktop paint scheme. The facelifted Camry also gets a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels, with optional two-tone color.

The Standard version of the 2021 Toyota Camry
Apart from the slight changes to the exterior, the Camry facelift also gets the latest version of the Toyota Safety Sense. With this update, the Camry’s autonomous emergency braking system now has a cyclist and cross-junction pedestrian detection for daytime, as well as nighttime pedestrian detection.
The updated driver-assist suite also includes lane centering assist, evasive steering assist, drive start control to stave off the accidental/ unintended use of the gas pedal. The adaptive cruise control can now also decelerate when approaching corners.
The facelifted Camry's rear end
The facelifted Camry in Japan starts at 3,485,000 yen (around Php 1.59 million). Do note that the current Camry in the Philippine market starts at Php 1,871,000. So, with that, we can assume that the facelifted 2021 Camry’s price will range a bit higher than the one we have now.
As to when it will be launched in the Philipines, a previous report stated that the new Camry will be introduced sometime around the fourth-quarter of 2021. Once it’s released here, you’ll be the first to know with Philkotse.com.
