1. Suzuki Alto 2018 Philippines: Introduction

As soon as the Suzuki Alto 800 was launched, Suzuki gave it a clear target market. And we like this. Decidedly, the Alto is for budget-conscious car hunters. It’s no more than a basic means of transportation. So, if you’re also seeking for a car for the money, this Suzuki Alto 2018 Philippines review will definitely help. Let’s find out.

2. Suzuki Alto 2018 Philippines: Exterior

Over nearly a decade since the Suzuki Alto 2010 for sale came out, the car has gone through several upgrades, starting with the exterior. The Suzuki Alto 2018 model features a simple look with upright windows and flat panels. Even, the bumpers are not painted. Perhaps only larger central air intake and upswept headlamps belong to the modern age.

The rest of things, meanwhile, are of a four-wheeler from the ‘90s.

3. Suzuki Alto 2018 Philippines: Interior

Flinging the door open and you will be greeted by a “clack” sound that normally comes from old-school models, then by a slightly-modernized dashboard. Round air vents are latter-day parts but other equipment of the Suzuki Alto 2018 interior is pure 90’s.

Item by item, the anolog gauges are sparse and just display basic info like speed, fuel level and temperature. No cup holders. No power windows. Thankfully, a decent-sized glove box and door pockets are on tap to store little stuff. There is also a radio to keep you entertained, along with a USB and an auxiliary port.

Regarding space, elbow- and legroom is not abundant to park heftier passengers

With such a simple cabin, ergonomics are very straightforward with dials and buttons put in right places.

Regarding space, elbow- and legroom is not abundant to park heftier passengers. Frankly, the interior design accuses itself of its age. Though refreshed door cards are thicker, they accidentally eat up the already-sparse shoulder and elbow room. Thence, if you want to sit comfortably four people in such tiny cabin, do not let a taller one perch on the front seat.

4. Suzuki Alto 2018 Philippines: Engine & Performance

Do you know why this hatch is put an “800” tag on its name? It’s simply because the car is equipped with an 800cc engine. With a single overhead camshaft design and 12 valves, this mill can push out 68 Nm of torque and 47 PS from its 3-cylinder motor. There is no automatic transmission at all, so a 5-speed manual is the only option. With such figures, just regard it as a present-day Mitsubishi Minica.

When it comes to ride and handling, the outdated suspension and narrow wheels and tires give the Alto some amusing driving characteristics. The nose dive markedly under moderate braking and making U-turn with a bit of buoyancy is met with lots of body pitch. For the most part, reaching a dynamic drive with this Alto may be too far but it doesn’t matter since performance is not its main purpose.

In aspect of comfort, it’s to what you look forward in a tiny hatch. In general, being away on short trips are better than long ones. It’s is a small size that makes the Alto 800 suitable for daily drive. Interestingly, it fells robust when getting around town to some extent. A short wheelbase heads towards a choppy ride at low speeds yet it can even take in road imperfections when challenging bumpy terrains. At higher speeds, the out-of-date rear suspension helps the car get a floaty ride without load at the back. Better still, there is no rattle even when it moves through dirty paths.

In the matter of fuel consumption, the Suzuki Alto 2018 model is truly not a gas guzzler.

In a nutshell, the 2018 Alto is not so brilliant, yet it’s a great city car featuring excellent visibility, light steering, good shifter and clutch.
