Like its brothers in other Southeast Asian markets, the Philippine-spec Toyota Yaris is a five-door subcompact hatchback based on the Toyota Vios sedan. Locally, it is available in two variants: the Yaris E 1.3 AT and the Yaris S 1.5 AT. Both trims of the 2023 Toyota Yaris Philippines utilize a 1.5-liter inline-4 gasoline engine capable of making up to 106 horsepower and 140 Nm of torque. For both Yaris variants, both come with a continuously variable transmission with a paddle shifter manual-mode.
Size-wise, the Toyota Yaris measures 4,140mm long, 1,730mm wide, and 1,500mm in height. It also has a wheelbase length of 2,550mm, and a ground clearance of 140mm.
In the local market, the Toyota Yaris’ competitors includes the likes of the Volkswagen Santana GTS, Honda City hatchback, Mazda2, Suzuki Swift, etc.
Launch
On December 23, 2020, the all-new facelifted Yaris was introduced to the Philippine market. It now has two variants, the top-of-the-line Yaris 1.5 S CVT, and the entry-level Yaris 1.3 E CVT.
Unlike the previous version, the new Yaris excusively uses a continously variable transmission. The 1.3-liter variant no longer has a manual version.

Toyota Yaris Exterior
The new, facelifted Yaris will surely appeal to those seeking a versatile and fun vehicle. As a facelift however, it will also make heads turn with its new sporty, mesh-type front grille and wide-winged headlamps. It also gets new LED fog lamps on both variants, as well as a set of new LED daytime running lamps.
Towards the sides, one can find expressive character lines stretching towards its rear end. And speaking of the rear end, LED line guides now outline its rear combination lamps. The rear gets a very sporty-looking roof moutned spoiler as well.
The new Toyota Yaris 2023 comes available in four vibrand colors. These include "Super White II," "Red Mica Metallic," "Cyan Metallic," and "Citrus Mica Metallic."
Toyota Yaris Interior
The new Toyota Yaris' interior, despite being a hatch, is as spacious and airy as the Toyota Vios. It can comfortably seat up to five, with room to spare for a lot of cargo.
Looks wise, the facelifted Yaris still maintains the clean and premium-feeling interior of the previous version. The top-spec variant's center cluster and instrument panel is adorned with satin silver accents, and both the E and S variants are equipped with an Optitron meter cluster, a multi-infomation display, and a tilt adjustable multi-function steering wheel.
The new Yaris' interior also comes with a decent number of cubby holes. To be exact, the front has two cupholders and two bottleholders, while the rear seats have two bottleholders.
Technology & Safety features
To keep it's occupants entertained, the Toyota Yarisis equipped with a 6.75-inch display audio infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Smart Device Link, as well as Bluetooth, AUX and USB connectivity.
For the 1.3 E CVT, occupants are kept comfortable by a manual air-conditioning system. The top-spec 1.5 S CVT on the other hand, comes equipped with automatic climate control.
For the driver, the top-spec Yaris S is a treat. That's because he/she has access to smart entry, a push to stary system, and speed sensing door locks.
Both variants also come standard with seven airbags, anti-lock braking with brake assist and electronic brake-force distribution, car alarm, hill-start control, ISOFIX, and a LED high mount stop lamp.
Only the 1.5 S comes standard with an engine immobilizer.
Platform & Chassis
As a facelift, the new Toyota Yaris still utilizes the Toyota B platform. It is a subcompact five-door hatchback with a front-wheel drive and front-engine layout.
It is equipped with McPherson struts for its front suspension, while the rear has torsion beams. For braking, the top-spec is equipped with ventilated front discs and rear discs brakes. The Yaris E however, uses a leading-trailing drum brake for the rear. Both variants rides on 15-inch alloys wrapped with 185/60 R15 tires.
The wheelbase is 2,550 mm. The new Yaris's length is 4,140 mm, 1,500 mm for the height, and 1,730 mm for the width. The current-version of the Yaris' height and width has remained the same, but is shorter by 5 mm than its predecessor.
Toyota Yaris Engine & Drivetrain
There are two available engine options for this subcompact hatchback: 1.3-liter 1NR-FE gasoline and 1.5-liter 2NR-FE gasoline with the power outputs of 98 hp, 123 Nm of torque, and 106 hp, 140 Nm of torque, respectively. Both variants of the facelifted 2023 Toyota Yaris uses a continously variable transmission (CVT).
