It also now hosts a suite of Toyota Safety Sense functions.

Toyota unveiled the facelifted version of the Yaris in Thailand, coming with changes mostly in the exterior and safety department.

With the updates, the 2023 Toyota Yaris gets a more distinct face as compared to its subcompact sedan twin, the Vios. After all, the two now don’t share the same underpinning following the Toyota Vios’ use of the all-new Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform.

Exterior

Exterior-wise, the 2023 Toyota Yaris is fitted with new headlights that look sharper and sportier. Another major revision is the new ultra-wide grille, which gets more character than the straightforward design of the outgoing version.

Over to the back, the sporty aesthetic continues as the Japanese automaker added a new diffuser-style trim on the rear bumper. For the 2023 Thai-spec model, it is made available with a new exterior color called Cement Gray Metallic, which is said to go well with the hatchback’s two-tone paint scheme.

Interior

Inside, the layout should look familiar to those who have seen at least the outgoing version before. The top-of-the-line Toyota Yaris Premium S comes with a combination of black and red interior theme, adding sporty touches for passengers to see.

While the interior appears to remain untouched, the automaker did add a USB Type-C charging port, adapting to the technological advancements among smartphones. This can also future-proof the reworked hatchback for the years to come.

Tech & Safety

One of the few changes in the interior is the upsizing of the infotainment screen, which now spans nine inches. Aside from on-road entertainment, the screen can display the vehicle’s 360-degree camera view as part of the addition of the brand’s Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) called Toyota Safety Sense.

The new Yaris now has Toyota Safety Sense

Available in the Thai-spec model’s Premium and Premium S, the hatchback’s Toyota Safety Sense package is equipped with Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Pre-Collision System, and Lane Departure Alert.

Engine & Powertrain

No changes were made under the hood. This means that the Yaris is still powered by the same 1.2-liter 3NR-FKE engine as standard, which is capable of generating 91 horsepower and 109 Nm of torque. It is connected to a continuously variable transmission (CVT), paired with a stop-and-start system.
