2022 Toyota Gazoo Racing Vios Cup overall winners

The company recognized those who stood out on track.

After three successful legs of the Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Vios Cup Circuit Championship, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) held an awarding ceremony to recognize the racers that stood out on the track.

Iñigo Anton of Toyota North EDSA – Obengers Racing Team was declared the overall champion in the Super Sporting Class, the race event’s top-tier category.

The Sporting and Promotional Classes were topped by Royce Sarmiento of RMS Cars Racing Team and Jay Lao of Happy Hotels/OTR Racing Team, respectively.

The winners of the Autocross Challenge were also declared. As opposed to lapped car racing, Autocross Challenge tests drivers by timing how fast they get around its dedicated obstacle course. Below is the list of winners for each class under the Autocross Challenge:

Advanced Influencer Class – Jules Aquino
Beginner Influencer Class – Miggy Romulo
Advanced Media Class – Jamil Lacuna
Beginner Media Class – Pablo Salapantan
GT Cup Class – Russel Reyes

The overall Team Award was handed to the Obengers Racing Team, reflecting its collective effort and skills on and off track.

Toyota continues to grow motorsports in the country with the Vios Cup

As the name suggests, the Vios Cup is a one-make race event that exclusively uses Toyota Vios units. The Vios cars used in the said event, however, it is not your ordinary daily small sedan. That’s because the Vios One Make Race (OMR) cars come with modifications such as improved suspension, roll cages for safety, and weight reduction, among others.

“Toyota Gazoo Racing Vios Cup is one of our most celebrated milestones. This would not be possible without you, our racers, and the whole team behind every driver. You gave life to this motorsports program,” said TMP First Vice President for Vehicle Sales Operations Danny Cruz.
