Toyota Astra Motor, the official distributor of Toyota models in Indonesia, has recently launched the GR Sport version of the Toyota Yaris.
The Toyota Yaris GR Sport for the Indonesian market
To avoid confusion, this is the Vios-based Yaris hatchback and is not the limited edition Toyota GR Yaris hot hatch. To further clear things up, the 'GR' in its model name comes after Yaris, making it the Toyota Yaris GR Sport. Of note, the XP210-based hot hatch comes with a slightly different naming convention, as the GR comes before Yaris.
So, what’s special about the Toyota Yaris GR Sport? Essentially, it gets a full body kit with a front lip, a rear lip with a diffuser, and GR Sport side skirts, as well as an alternate set of 16-inch wheels. The interior also comes with red contrast accent stitching on several areas including the center armrest, the steering wheel, the interior door cards, and the seats.

The dashboard also gets a seven-inch touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a GR Sport opening animation. Other features include a push-to-start button with GR Sport branding, and plenty of GR Sport logos on other parts of the vehicle in general.
As for the rest of its amenities and its mechanical bits, it remains identical to the Vios-based top-spec Toyota Yaris hatchback for the Indonesian market.
Under the hood, it uses the same 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated inline-4 gasoline engine that the Philippine-spec Toyota Yaris uses. At maximum, this engine can make 106 horsepower and 140 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to the front wheels through a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with paddle shifters for its manual mode.
