1. What is Autosweep RFID?

An Autosweep RFID is essential to have in your car when driving in the Philippines. It is used for cashless toll payments in expressways operated by San Miguel Corporation (SMC).

These SMC toll roads/expressways include the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), Metro Manila Skyway System (Skyway), NAIA Expressway (NAIAX), Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR Tollway), Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway (MCX), and Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX).

For those who are residing in the South, an Autosweep RFID can really be handy

According to the Toll Regulatory Board, motorists who don't have enough RFID load will be fined Php 1,000 for the third offense. This also includes the confiscation of Land Transporation Office (LTO) driver's licenses which can be a hassle especially if you are on the road most of the time.

With all that being said, we suggest that you go and install an Autosweep RFID as soon as possible. Of note, an Autosweep RFID can also be used in toll roads run by Easytrip. You would just have to visit Easytrip installation stations to add an Easytrip account to your existing Autosweep account.

2. Autosweep RFID Installation Guide: Costs

Fortunately, Autosweep said there are no documents required when installing an RFID sticker. You just need to present a valid I.D. and your vehicle’s certification of registration and official receipt (OR/CR).

As for the costs, class 1 vehicles such as cars, motorcycles, vans, taxis, and jeepneys are required to pay Php 500 to avail of an Autosweep RFID. The paid amount is already loaded to the newly bought RFID sticker that you can use after installation. With this, you don't need to visit an Autosweep RFID reloading station right after installation, saving you some time.

This is what an Autosweep RFID sticker should look like

On the other hand, class 2 and 3 vehicles such as light trucks, buses, and multi-axled trucks are required to pay Php 1,000 for the initial load. Just like class 1 vehicles, class 2 and 3 vehicle owners can only use the RFID after installation.

To get started, visit Autosweep’s official website and print the subscription form. Fill out the necessary information on the subscription form. Once you are done, go to any Autosweep installation stations with your subscription form and a photocopy of both your valid I.D. and OR/CR.

After submitting, an Autosweep representative will be installing your new RFID sticker on strategic points of your vehicle to be read by Autosweep sensors more efficiently.

Your ticket in reducing travel time

Unfortunately, Autosweep RFIDs are currently unavailable in online shops such as Shopee and Lazada, unlike Easytrip. We do hope that someday it will be available for frequent SMC toll road users. If you are a frequent user of Easytrip toll roads, we suggest you avail of Easytrip stick-it-yourself RFID stickers via the said online shops for Php 500 only. 3. Autosweep RFID Installation Guide: Proper Way

As said earlier, Autosweep doesn’t currently have stick-it yourself RFIDs, unlike Easytrip. This means that an Autosweep representative will be the one installing the RFID in your car after submitting the required documents.

However, you need to know the proper way of installing an RFID sticker. There are instances shared online that a motorist had to cut the portion of his/her car’s windshield tint in order for the RFID to be detected.

Get around Metro Manila with SMC's Skyway

To avoid such inconvenience, note that the ideal spots to install an RFID are on either your vehicle’s upper windshield or headlights. These are the ideal points where a toll sensor can easily detect your RFID.

You can try to contest any Autosweep representative who will be installing your RFID on the wrong points of your vehicle. The last thing you want for your vehicle is to cut out a portion of your windshield tint or go back to installation sites just to make the RFID work.

4. Autosweep RFID Installation Guide: Trouble-shooting tips

If you will often use Autosweep toll roads, chances are you will encounter an event where your RFID cannot be read. For this reason, it is highly suggested that you bring with you your plastic card given to you at an Autosweep RFID loading station.

You can check your Autosweep balance via SMS

The plastic card is what you will present to the toll representative when your RFID cannot be detected. You can remain calm despite driving through faulty sensors knowing you have your plastic card with you.

Another tip is to always check your Autosweep’s balance to avoid inconvenience on toll gates. You can check your balance via Autosweep’s app and find ‘balance inquiry.’ If you find that you are low on balance, you can reload your Autosweep RFID balance on multiple reloading platforms such as BPI, 7-Eleven, GCash, and more.
