The Peugeot 208 is a premium front-engine, front-wheel-drive supermini hatchback offered in a three-door and five-door body. It features a sporty, trendy, and dynamic exterior detailed with a striking front fascia and smooth edges. Inside, though under the supermini category, the Peugeot 203 offers a comfortable cabin fitted with premium amenities meant to provide a safe and pleasurable riding experience. The Peugeot 208 was offered in the following variants: the Peugeot 208 Access, the Peugeot 208 Access+, the Peugeot 208 Active, the Peugeot 208 Style, the Peugeot 208 Allure, the Peugeot 208 Roland Garros, the Peugeot 208 Feline, the Peugeot 208 XY, the Peugeot 208 GTi, and the Peugeot 208 GTi Prestige. It comes in Bianca White, Satin White, Nero Black, Spirit Grey, Virtual Blue, Shark Grey, Aluminum, Rioja Red, Rosa Quartz, and Twilight Blue.
Launch
The first generation Peugeot 208 was launched in 2012 as a replacement for the Peugeot 207. It shared the same PSA PF1 platform with the Peugeot 2008, the Citroen C3, the Citroen C4 Cactus, and the Citroen DS3. The initial variants include Active, Signature, Tech Edition, and GT-Line.
Its second generation was revealed at the Geneva International Motor Show in 2019. Also, the Peugeot e208, an electric version fitted with a Permanent Magnet Synchronous motor was made available in the market.
In the Philippines, a replica version of the Peugeot 208 was unveiled at the 2014 Manila International Auto Show. It was presented by Eurobrands Distributor Inc., the French premium carmaker’s official local distributor.
Exterior
The Peugeot 208 measures 3,962mm long, 2,004mm wide, and 1,460mm tall. Exterior highlights include a pair of striking LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, a wide radiator grille with satin-finished mesh, front fog lights, body-colored door handles and electric door mirrors, dark-tinted rear windows, LED rear lamps, chrome-colored exhaust pipes in three-door variants, and a set of 15- to 17-inch alloy wheels depending on the variant.
Interior
The Peugeot 208 offers a comfortable cabin courtesy of its 2,358mm wheelbase. Notable interior features include sports seats wrapped in premium trim, leather-covered steering wheel with chrome detailing, instrument dial with white or red LED illumination, automatic dual-zone air conditioning, center armrest, a panoramic glass roof, and ambient lighting.

The Peugeot 208 is fitted with a multifunction color touchscreen with DAB digital radio, USB input, and Bluetooth connectivity.
In terms of safety, it is equipped with an anti-lock braking system, electronic stability program, six airbags, tire pressure sensors, cruise control with speed limiter, car alarm, child safety door locking system, and more.

The Peugeot 208 utilized the PSA PF1 platform. It is equipped with a MacPherson suspension at the front and a cross deformable suspension at the rear. Its braking power is assisted by discs at the front and drums or discs at the rear.

The Peugeot 208 came with the following engine options: a Puretech 1.0 VTI, a PureTech 1.2 VTi, a 1.4 HDi, a 1.6 e-HDi, and a 1.6 THP. It is mated with a four-speed automatic, a five-speed manual, a five-speed EGC, and a six-speed manual transmission capable of producing 61 to 268 horsepower with 95 to 275 Newton meters of torque.
