The changes are more than just skin-deep.

We’ve only just begun the last quarter of the year, but Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is unwrapping an early Christmas gift for its customers: the power to lead, by way of the 2021 Toyota Fortuner.

The refreshed Fortuner sports a new look while retaining the same platform

The updated and expanded Toyota Fortuner range rides on the proven formula of the current generation, but if you’re under the impression that the changes are merely cosmetic, think again. The lineup now consists of the G, V, and Q trims, with the LTD added as the range-topping variant, adapted from the Fortuner Legender.

A new fascia headlines the revamped Fortuner, with a larger and more imposing blacked-out grille flanked by redesigned bi-beam LED headlamps. The lower half of the façade has also been transformed, with the fog lamps set against larger mesh housings resting on slender LED position lamps. The front air dam is now more prominent, riding higher up on the redesigned bumper.

The range-topping LTD has a sportier aesthetic

For the LTD trim, the front bumper is mounted higher, cutting across the dual-port grille that’s surrounded by split-type LED headlamps. The fog lamp housings are slimmer and more upright, while the air dam sits slightly lower under the gloss black garnish.

Even the rear lamp cluster has been revised to look more streamlined

Revised rear combination lamp clusters on all variants feature a more upswept design. The LTD comes in an exclusive black contrast roof that emphasizes its athletic attitude even more. Standard Fortuner variants sport monochrome 17- and 18-inch aluminum wheels, while the LTD rocks 18-inch two-tone alloys with machine cut finish.

Heading into the cabin, there are leather seats on the midrange and top-spec trims, featuring 8-way power adjustment on the front seats which are ventilated on the LTD. The Q variant offers dark wood trim to complement the cowhide seats, while the LTD brings galaxy black trim accompanying the available ambient lighting for a sophisticated interior look.

The larger 8-inch touchscreen now supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

The leather multi-function steering wheel can be adjusted for reach and rake while featuring the same Variable Flow Control power steering offered on the new Hilux recently launched here. A 7-inch touchscreen head unit is standard on the base G variant, while the rest of the range use a bigger 8-inch display, all coming with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Wireless charging is offered on the V trim upwards.

Charge your phone hassle-free while you're on the road

Under the hood, the new Fortuner drops the gasoline option of the outgoing model in favor of an all-diesel powertrain selection. There’s the 2.4L 2GD-FTV turbodiesel generating 148 hp and 400 Nm of torque, which Toyota claims have been tweaked to be 5 percent more fuel-efficient than the previous version. A more powerful 2.8L 1GD-FTV mill is also available, making 201 hp and 500 Nm of twist.

The Fortuner's Panoramic View Monitor reduces blind spots

Both the Q and LTD trims are equipped with Toyota Safety Sense, packing a sophisticated array of driver-assist features such as a Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert, and Adaptive Cruise Control.

V variants and up also come with a Panoramic View Monitor, while the LTD is outfitted with seven airbags. All trims offer anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, stability and traction control, and six sonar sensors all around as standard.
