2023 Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica debuts with 631 horsepower

It closes the gap between the mundane Evo RWD and track-focused STO. 

Lamborghini has unleashed yet another iteration of its Huracán sports car, the Tecnica, which slots between the Evo RWD and the track machine STO (Super Trofeo Omologato). The new model uses the same power unit from the STO, kicking up 631 horsepower from the rear wheels. 

Introducing the new Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica

It's already one of the lightest Hurácans so far, with a dry weight of 1,379 kilograms. This was achieved using a hybrid chassis comprising aluminum and carbon fiber, wrapped by an outer skin made from aluminum and composite material.  “The Huracán Tecnica condenses Lamborghini’s design and engineering expertise to create the perfect fun-to-drive Hurácan, as compelling when driving to the race circuit as it is on the streets itself,” said Automobili Lamborghini Chairman & CEO Stephan Winkelmann, adding that it now completes the Hurácan lineup.

Exterior

The revised design allows the Huracán Tecnica to combine sleek aerodynamics with an almost feral, predatory vibe, standing 4,567mm long, 2,236mm wide, and 1,165mm high on a 2,620mm wheelbase. Carbon fiber has been used to form the hood, which hovers above a black Ypsilon front bumper featuring air curtains, a first for the Huracán.

Farther down, a new front splitter directs air to the front wheels through open slats. Prominent air intakes along the sides add to the car’s dynamic impression, bolstered by an optional black roof. 

Carbon fiber has been generously added to the engine hood

At the rear, the Huracán Tecnica carries a new vertical glass window and redesigned carbon fiber engine hood, terminating in a fixed rear wing that delivers 35 percent more downforce than the Evo RWD. The optimized air inlet and diffuser on the new rear bumper accompany hexagonal exhaust outlets. A set of Damiso 20-inch diamond cut alloy wheels comes wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza Sport radials. 

Interior

The driver is the primary focus of the Huracán Tecnica’s cabin, with height-adjustable sport seats. Additional options serve to indulge those who look forward to track days, such as racing harnesses, a lightweight door design, and titanium components. 

Clients can specify their preferred interior trim and colors 

Lamborghini’s Ad Personam customization program offers a new interior Alcantara trim specifically for the Huracán Tecnica, along with a range of stitching designs and colors. Buyers can choose from a practically unlimited selection of color and material combinations to customize their purchase.

Tech & Safety

Lamborghini brings a new, redesigned interface aboard the Huracán Tecnica, with the instrument panel featuring reduced colors to emphasize readability, utilizing an arc as the primary layout. 

Vehicle performance can be controlled with just a few taps on the central screen

Apart from connectivity options such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa, the 8.4-inch central touchscreen head unit also incorporates the Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata (LDVI) system that controls the car’s dynamics and handling. 

Both driver and passenger aboard the Huracán Tecnica are protected by front, side, and knee airbags. Carbon ceramic brakes are actuated by an anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution. Other standard safety features include electronic stability control, parking sensors, and a rear-view camera.  

Engine & Drivetrain 

As mentioned, the Huracán Tecnica borrows its power unit from the STO, a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 rated at 631 horsepower and 565 Nm of torque. This is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, resulting in a zero to 100 kilometer per hour sprint of 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 325 kilometers per hour. 

Rear-wheel steering is standard on the Hurácan Tecnica

The rear-wheel steering system from the Lamborghini parts bin also makes its way to the Huracán Tecnica, used to full effect by the model’s ANIMA drive modes – Strada (street), Sport, and Corsa (track) – along with a modified Performance Traction Control System (P-TCS) and MagneRide electromagnetic suspension.

Pricing

No pricing information has been released for the 2023 Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica as of this writing, but reports say it has been specifically designed to target the Porsche 911 GT3 coupe. The latest Lamborghini bull is expected to cost between 436,000 and 460,000 euro (Php 24.6 million to Php 26 million).
