Peugeot has launched the refreshed 3008 for the Philippine market. The compact crossover brings a price tag of Php 2.09 million and is the second model from the French carmaker’s opening salvo to re-energize its presence in the country.
The compact crossover is no longer sourced in Europe but in Southeast Asia
“We are thrilled to launch the new Peugeot 3008 SUV, which is our next step in the revitalization of the Peugeot lineup in the Philippines,” said Peugeot Philippines Brand Head Maricar Parco. “The vehicle is a leader in the compact SUV market with an outstanding commercial performance in Europe and internationally. We are confident that its success will carry on in the Philippines.”
The new 3008 follows the revamped 5008 compact crossover, with two other releases expected within the year. Peugeot Philippines is banking on these four models to help fuel its expansion plans in the country, with new showrooms planned to open in the coming months.
“Construction at our new dealership in Alabang is underway and we are on track to open in March,” according to Peugeot Philippines Managing Director Raoul Picello. ”I can also confirm that Peugeot Cebu and Peugeot Davao will begin construction of their new facilities very soon,” adding that the company’s January 17 relaunch has been met with positive response from customers.
Exterior
Currently on its second generation, the new 3008 brings more than just aesthetic changes as it is now sourced from Malaysia. At 4,510mm long, 1,850mm wide, and 1,628mm high, it sports increased dimensions over the European version it replaces. Although the wheelbase has been lengthened from 2,675mm to 2,730mm, the vehicle still sits on the PSA EMP2 platform shared with the Peugeot 5008.
Redesigned headlamps now features fang-like DRLs
A new front end replaces previous split headlamps with redesigned full LED ones, incorporating fang-like daytime running lights that terminate at a chrome tip. These now flank a frameless grille that extends with fins on both sides toward the front fenders. Prominent side scoops at the bottom corners of the front bumper complement the body cladding to emphasize the 3008’s sporty nature.
Rear LED lamps give off a distinct lighting signature
Starting from the A-pillar, the new 3008 features a blacked-out roof accentuated by silver roof rail. The hands-free power tailgate is surrounded by rear LED lamps sporting a 3D claw design covered in clear, smoked glass for optimum visibility. Contributing to the 3008’s 198mm ground clearance is a set of 18-inch Los Angeles alloy wheels.
Interior
Five occupants can comfortably sit in the new 3008’s cabin which features leather seats surround by a premium finish all around. A panoramic sunroof with sliding sun blind is included, accompanied by LED ambient lighting.
