It’s finally out. The 2020 Toyota Fortuner and Hilux debuted in Thailand featuring a bolder look and more punching power under its hood.
Both Toyota heavyweights join the 500 Club as it now has 500 Nm of pulling power thanks to the more powerful 201 hp 2.8-liter diesel engine. The 2.4-liter diesel engine is still among the engine options in the 2020 Fortuner and Hilux.
2020 Toyota Fortuner
Launched in Thailand, the 2020 Fortuner will be offered with a variant called Legender. It comes with a new fascia that gives the vehicle a sharper look.
Toyota’s mid-size SUV is now fitted with a new bumper design that looks larger and bolder as compared to its predecessor. It now also packs a more powerful diesel engine under its hood.
The 2020 Fortuner comes with a 2.8-liter diesel engine that delivers a maximum output of 201 hp and 500 Nm of torque. It also has a Sport mode, which will come in handy whenever you want to have a more spirited drive.
The 2020 Toyota Fortuner looks sharper and bolder
Aside from the more powerful engine, the 2020 Fortuner also comes with Toyota Safety Sense, which offers an array of safety features such as Pre-Collision System, Dynamic Cruise Control, and Lane Departure Alert.
The 2020 Fortuner Legender variant also comes with a new grille design featuring a mesh pattern. The design changes continue to be seen at the Fortuner’s headlight which is integrated with LED guiding headlights along with daytime running lights. On a side note, we can’t help but think of the Geely Coolray whenever we look back at the 2020 Fortuner’s fascia.
The side of the latest Thai-market Fortuner still looks similar to the current Toyota Fortuner available in the Philippines. However, it has a set of new 20-inch alloy wheels, which we find appealing in case you’re wondering.
The rear gets a subtle but noticeable design change
The rear of the Toyota Fortuner 2020 gets a subtle but noticeable design change. It has a revamped bumper and a slightly redesigned taillight cluster. The bumper and taillight fitted in the new Fortuner complete the vehicle’s aggressive and bold stance.

Inside, the Fortuner Legender features a black interior theme along with white and silver accents. It also has ambient lighting that comes in blue illumination, a similar design approach similar to other Toyota cars such as the Innova and Alphard.
The touchscreen placed at the center of the dashboard is compatible with Apple CarPlay.
But, what caught our attention is the fact that this Fortuner is integrated with a 360-degree camera which will be handy in assisting driver’s visibility.
Other tech goodies that come with the 2020 Fortuner Legender are the following: park sensor, activated kick door, and wireless charger.

2020 Toyota Hilux
Toyota has also debuted the 2020 Hilux that’s packed with a bolder look and more punching power under the hood. It also has the same 2.8-liter diesel engine that’s fitted to the 2020 Fortuner.
The 2020 Toyota Hilux is ready to challenge its segment rivals
The exterior design of the new Toyota Hilux is more aggressive, which looks ready for a slugfest against its segment rivals like the Mitsubishi Strada, Ford Ranger, Isuzu D-Max, among others.
The Hilux’s front end is now fitted with a massive grille that looks similar to its sibling truck, the Tacoma. This Japanese pickup truck also comes with a more aggressive bumper, sharper-looking headlights, and a skid plate which further give the 2020 Hilux a bold and confident stance.

The aggressive styling continues to be seen at the rear as the Toyota Hilux 2020 comes with a redesigned double C-shaped taillight cluster.
On the other hand, the 2020 Hilux comes with a black interior theme along with blue ambient lighting. The interior also features an 8-inch touchscreen compatible with Apple CarPlay.
Like the Fortuner, the Hilux is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense that offers features such as Pre-Collision System, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, and Lane Departure Alert.

In addition, the Hilux is equipped with a Variable Flow Control power steering which Toyota says adjusts the steering wheel stiffness upon the speed of the truck, reducing driver stress.
