The facelift made the Terra look tougher than before.

After its initial launch in the Middle East as the X-Terra and ASEAN debut in Thailand, Nissan Philippines is proud to announce that the new 2022 Terra facelift has finally arrived in the country. It is joining the midsize SUV segment with a redesigned exterior and interior that make the model looks more stylish than ever.

Now that the facelifted version is officially up in the local market, the outgoing model is now gone. With that being said, let's take a look at the differences between the two models of the Japanese SUV and see what are the new features added for the 2022 model.

2022 Nissan Terra Old vs New: Exterior

The Nissan Terra’s V-Motion grille is retained in the new release. However, the grille is redesigned to make it look flashier as compared to the styling of the previous model. The sides of the V-Motion grille appear to be slimmer and now come with an angle. Meanwhile, the bottom part of the V-Motion grille is now barely noticeable, creating a sharper appearance.

The probable reason why Nissan decided to tone down the bottom part of the V-Motion grille is to make the new four horizontal chrome bars look better. Overall, the newly-designed grille helps the new Terra emphasize its large and SUV-like proportions.

The new headlights, which Nissan calls Quad-LED Projector, are also redesigned to add two layers. Each layer hosts two headlamps that the brand describes as Ice Cubes. The bottom layer functions as the regular headlights, while the top layer functions as the high beam headlights.

Complementing the new headlight design are the Nissan Patrol-inspired C-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs). Nissan shared that the new Terra’s DRLs have been evolved from the Patrol and are interpreted in their own distinctive way. That said, both share the same pattern, but have different lengths.

Another front fascia feature that has been revamped is the bumper. It sports multiple layers to make it look tougher and fuller. With the new bumper design, a new fog lamp housing is added with vertical chrome trim to bring a sturdier off-road presence.

Just like the outgoing model, the new Nissan Terra almost shares the same design at the sides. The only added feature is the new 18-inch two-tone wheels that improve the side profile. Moreover, the facelifted version gets lesser body color options at six, as compared to the previous model at seven.

These color options include Nebula Metallic Red, Forged Metallic Copper, Lunar Metallic Gray, Galaxy Black, Brilliant Silver, and Aspen Pearl White. Meanwhile, the outgoing PH-spec Nissan Terra was offered with Earth Brown, Lunar Metallic Gray, Flare Metallic Gold, Fiery Red, Galaxy Black, Brilliant Silver, and Aspen Pearl White.

At the back, the new model received a significant amount of updates. The chrome trim that expands the width of the taillights now comes with an inverted V design, while the outgoing model comes with straight chrome trim.

The taillights now sport a twin horizontal design that makes the rear fascia look sleeker and modern. Also, the rear bumper is also emphasized with a chrome skid plate to make the new Terra look like it is armored and ready for any action on or off roads.

Nissan shared that the new Terra is meant to come with characteristics such as being more sophisticated, versatile, and bolder. In consideration of the new updates Nissan did on the 2022 Nissan Terra, it is safe to say that the facelift is a success.

2022 Nissan Terra Old vs New: Interior

The new Terra got a handful of updates to offer a more sophisticated and premium feeling for both the drivers and passengers. Starting with the two-tone interior theme that looks more modern and upscale. Leather upholstery on gravity seats are available for higher-end Terra variants

Nissan equipped the facelift model with a new 9-inch infotainment screen that supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Navigation. The new touchscreen display is complemented by eight premium Bose speakers for a fuller entertainment experience. A new high contrast 7-inch Advanced Drive-Assist Display is also made available for all variants of the midsize SUV, while an 11-inch flip-down rear monitor is integrated into the cabin so second and third-row passengers can watch their favorite shows on the road.

Another important update is the dashboard that is redesigned to host a full-width horizontal design. This helps the interior look wider and more spacious as the new dash design stretches from door to door. Also, a new D-shaped steering wheel is added to provide a sportier driving feel.

Overall, the new Terra comes with a look that maximizes its large proportions, while getting enhancement on the design to make the model look even more sophisticated. With those in mind, the new updates should help it further solidify its intention of becoming a premium and bold midsize SUV.

2022 Nissan Terra Old vs New: Engine

For the 2022 model, the new Nissan Terra is carrying over the 2.5-liter YD25 turbodiesel engine that is capable of generating 187 hp and 450 Nm of torque. The entry-level EL variant is using a 6-speed manual transmission, while the rest of the variants come with a 7-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Just like the previous model, the facelifted version is equipped with a 4WD system that comes with a transfer select switch. With this, drivers can configure the midsize SUV to the best setting depending on the road condition. Meanwhile, a 2WD system is installed on the other variants of the new Terra.
