The GT-R NISMO remains one of the most desirable models in Nissan’s stable. Sure, it’s about four years overdue for a replacement, but the carmaker apparently isn’t done yet with its high-performance sports car and grand tourer.
The New Nissan GT-R NISMO
In its home market of Japan, Nissan has taken the wraps off its latest iteration of the so-called Godzilla, a limited special-edition model featuring a new stealth gray body color. The company says that the new hue was inspired by the tracks that the GT-R has conquered thus far in its stellar history.
The car also boasts clear-coated carbon fiber on the hood, a NISMO exclusive. Apart from delivering an impressive visual presence, skipping out on the paint also cuts shaves off 100 grams from the GT-R NISMO’s overall weight.

Another exclusive is the 20-inch Rays forged aluminum wheels sporting a red accent around the rim, echoing the scarlet trim found on the front lip, side skirts, and rear. The alloys house the biggest carbon-ceramic rotors ever fitted to a Japanese performance car measuring 410mm in front and 390mm at the rear, accompanied by equally large Brembo calipers.

As far as the engine is concerned, the new GT-R NISMO retains the 3.8L VR38DETT twin-turbo V6 utilizing GT3 racecar superchargers, cranking up 592 hp and 652 Nm of torque. The significant difference is that new high-precision parts now come in, such as piston rings, connecting rods, crankshaft, and valve springs.

With the tighter tolerances, drivers can expect shorter turbo spooling times and snappier revs with every push of the pedal. Each engine is hand-crafted and bears a certification plate bearing the name of the takumi technician responsible for the build.
The new version still delivers power to all four wheels via a six-speed automatic gearbox and the ATTESA E-TS (Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All-Terrain, Electronic Torque Split) drivetrain, with a NISMO-tuned adaptive-damper suspension setup taking charge of handling.
As a final touch, the new GT-R NISMO now carries Nissan’s updated corporate logo on the wheel center caps and rear trunk lid.

Only a limited number of the new Nissan GT-R NISMO will be up for grabs, some of which will find their way to the U.S. market. There’s no news on pricing yet, but the model is expected to become available by the fourth quarter of this year at the latest.
