If you’re considering a premium and a safe family vehicle that’s great for the environment, then you might want to check out the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.
We say safe because according to the extensive testing of the ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (ASEAN NCAP), this crossover scores very high for both adult occupant protection (AOP) and child occupant protection (COP).

For AOP, the Outlander got high marks for both the frontal impact and side-impact tests. As such, it was given a non-weighted score of 33.06 out of 36 in this category.
Your little tykes are also safe aboard the Mitsubishi-made crossover since it also did well in the frontal and side-impact tests for children. For this test category, it acquired a non-weighted score of 40.48 out of a perfect score of 49.
On top of its excellent crashworthiness, the Mitsubishi Outlander is also pretty well equipped with an active safety system.
As such, the ASEAN NCAP also gave this vehicle a non-weighted score of 12.21 out of 18 for the safety assist category. To be more specific, the organization gave it a perfect 8 out of 8 for effective braking and avoidance.

To sum it all up, the Outlander PHEV has a total score of 83.54 out of 100. That’s equivalent to a five star ASEAN NCAP safety rating based on the organization’s 2021-2025 safety testing protocols.
Currently, the Philippines-spec version of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is equipped with dual front airbags, front and second-row curtain airbags, and driver’s knee airbags.
For active safety, the said vehicle comes standard with active stability and traction control, eight corner sensors, blind-spot warning, lane change assist, forward collision mitigation, multi-around monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control. Like most modern cars sold today, it also comes with anti-lock braking with electronic brake distribution.

As we’ve said earlier, the Outlander PHEV is great for the environment since it’s a plug-in hybrid. Its powertrain consists of a 2.4-liter inline-4 gasoline engine paired with a permanent magnet synchronous motor that’s powered by a 13.8 kWh lithium-ion battery.
The aforementioned gasoline engine produces up to 126 horsepower and 199 Nm of torque, while the electronic motor churns out 137 Nm on its own. Power is sent to all four wheels via a single-speed transmission.
The current entry-level price of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV sits at Php 2,998,000 with slightly more for the special variants in Ruby Black, White pearl, and Red Diamond colors.
