Hyundai’s Class 3 modern jeepney gets DOTr certification

Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), the official distributor of Hyundai trucks and buses in the country, received the Certificate of Compliance (COC) from the Department of Transportation (DOTr) for its HD50 Class 3 Modern Jeepney.

The HD50 Class 3 Modern Jeepney is HARI’s latest addition to its other certified modern jeepneys such as the Hyundai H-100 Class 1 and Hyundai HD50S Class 2 last year. Since the launch of the modern jeepneys, HARI has been receiving numerous not just from major transport groups, but also from private companies and local government units (LGUs).

The HD50 Class 3 Modern Jeepney

Powering the HD50 Class 3 Modern Jeepney is a 2.9-liter Euro 4-compliant CRDi engine. The engine is designed to provide operators with optimum fuel efficiency, cleaner emissions, enhanced power-to-weight ratio, and more.

Inside, the Class 3 Modern Jeepney is installed with innovative features such as roof-mounted air conditioning, automatic fare collection system (AFCS), Wi-Fi, GPS tracking, CCTV cameras, 7-inch monitor, and speed limiter. Overall, the Class 3 Modern Jeepney can accommodate 22 seated passengers with 10 standing passengers.

HARI said that the country needed safe and modernized transportation especially now with the inconvenience in mobility brought by the global health crisis. Moreover, HARI said that its Ligtas Biyahe (COVID-ready) variants were the first to be used by the government for free rides for frontliners.

The Ligtas Biyahe variants boast of their safety features that address the COVID-19 pandemic. These features include contactless payment, social distancing with individualized seating, and plastic dividers.
