Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP), Geely’s official distributor, announced that it is intensifying its efforts to fulfill its aggressive dealer expansion plan in the second half of 2021. Earlier this year, the company announced that it will open 13 more dealerships nationwide.
Geely Azkarra
Since then, SGAP has inaugurated four dealerships in Parañaque, Pampanga, Iloilo, and Manila as the latest addition to the roster. The nine other dealerships that are targeted to be established before the year ends include Santa Rosa, Bacolod, Dagupan, San Fernando, Marikina, Las Piñas, Marilao, Tacloban, and Taytay-Cainta.
Overall, the company was able to simultaneously open 15 new dealerships and started 17 new dealer franchise projects as per a report from SGAP’s Network Development officials.
Geely Coolray
“In the past months, we have been focusing on intensifying our network expansion efforts, opening up dealerships, one after another. This shall continue on the 2nd half of the year as we give utmost importance in establishing our brand with our existing vehicles and increasing our market presence in preparation for better sales coverage on our current and upcoming models,” said SGAP President and CEO Yosuke Nishi.
Aside from dealership expansion, the Chinese automaker is also aiming to grow its lineup to meet various market demands. New Geely models were supposed to be out already but were delayed due to the challenges of the pandemic. Looking at its website, it seems like the company will soon introduce two new SUVs/crossovers and one new sedan.
Geely Okavango
Currently, Geely Philippines is offering three models, namely the Coolray, Azkarra, and Okavango. The Coolray is a subcompact crossover that secured the top sales spot at its segment this year, while the Azkarra is a compact crossover equipped with a mild-hybrid powertrain. Lastly, the Okavango is the largest model of the brand that offers a 7-seating configuration.
“No matter how the global situation continues to play out, let us always maintain a growth mindset, a mindset that led our young brand to where it is the market right now,” concluded Nishi.
