It is not a surprise that Ferrari will be entering the crossover/SUV market with a new model called the Purosangue. The Italian automaker announced on its official Twitter account that the Purosangue will be unveiled next week via a 15-second teaser video. The exhaust note is included in the teaser so have a listen.

The news first broke out when Ferrari released a teaser of the Purosangue in its signature red paint scheme. Up until this day, the automaker remains mum regarding the features aside from the engine which will be a V12. Reports also suggest that the vehicle will be available with a V8 hybrid variant as an option.

As for the V12 engine, it should be the naturally-aspirated (NA) power unit also found in the Ferrari 812 Superfast. It is hailed as the most powerful V12 NA engine in the world, which should make the Ferrari SUV more interesting. A dual-clutch transmission (DCT) will be paired with the engine, providing quicker gear shifting.

Ferrari's first-ever SUV

While the design has yet to be seen, the Purosangue is said to be based on the Roma coupe. It comes with a unique styling as compared to other Ferrari models in the brand’s lineup which exudes sophistication. The Ferrari Roma even won the 2020 Car Design Award due to its “sensual, evocative, and cutting-edge design.”

Ferrari isn’t the only supercar brand to roll out an SUV in recent times. Even its Italian automaker rival Lamborghini has joined the fray with the Urus. The introduction of the Urus in the lineup has been paying off for Lamborghini as the V8-powered high-performance SUV has become its best-selling model.

But that seems like the unlikely case for the Ferrari Purosangue as the automaker said that the model will be limited to 20 percent of its total annual sales. Catch the global unveiling of the FUV (Ferrari Utility Vehicle) on September 13, 2022.
