Earlier this year, Chevrolet Philippines quietly discontinued half of its lineup assumably to make room for new models. This move was confirmed when Chevrolet PH launched the Tracker last July 2021. It is said to represent a new chapter for the car brand locally and will compete in the ever-growing subcompact crossover segment.
Chevrolet Trailblazer
Now, The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI), Chevrolet’s distributor in the country, announced that the 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer will be added to the revamped local lineup. But this time, it won’t come in the form of a midsize SUV. Instead, it got smaller and will be joining the Tracker in Chevrolet’s local crossover family.
No official specifications have been dished out by Chevrolet Philippines as of this writing. However, what we can be sure of is that it will now come with a five-seater configuration due to its smaller size. Also, it now comes with a unibody chassis instead of a ladder frame which provides a sedan-like driving experience. In other words, the Trailblazer will now be marketed as a crossover rather than a midsize SUV in the Philippines.
Now more compact in size
The Chevrolet Trailblazer comes with a double grille design paired with sleek-looking LED headlights. Sharp character lines are the theme for the model which gives it its sporty appeal. If this design seems familiar, then it’s probably because the new Trailblazer looks like the crossover version of the renowned Chevrolet Camaro.
As said earlier, no official specs have been revealed for the crossover. But it is expected to be integrated with the latest version of MyLink+ for a more innovative connectivity feature on the go. Just like the Tracker, the Trailblazer might be offered with a Redline trim that provides a sportier finish to the cabin.
It is close to arriving in the country
Under the hood, the PH-spec Trailblazer could be powered by a 1.3-liter turbocharged EcoTec gasoline engine capable of generating 162 hp and 240 Nm of torque. Depending on the variant, the engine can be coupled to either a continuously variable transmission (CVT) or a 9-speed automatic transmission.
Chevrolet Philippines will debut the 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer in the local lineup sometime this month. It should sit above the Chevrolet Tracker in the brand’s crossover offerings.
