Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is on a roll as it launches new models one after another. The recent addition to its model lineup is the 2021 Toyota Fortuner. It comes with a new look and all variants of the new Fortuner is offered with a diesel engine.

Speaking of which, the 2021 Toyota Fortuner is available with the new top-spec LTD variant in either 4x4 or 4x2 configuration. Of note, the Fortuner officially joins 500 club thanks to its new 2.8-liter diesel engine that can generate up to 500 Nm of torque.

As such, let’s compare the old and the new Fortuner, and spot the major differences.

2021 Toyota Fortuner Old vs New: Exterior

Old vs New (front): Toyota Fortuner

TMP is offering the LTD variant, which is the counterpart of the Legender trim sold in Thailand. The overall look of the new Fortuner, specifically its front end, is more aggressive and sharper as compared to the old model.

The significant design changes you can spot in the Fortuner can be seen at the front end since this is a facelifted model.

The headlights of the 2021 Toyota Fortuner have a sharper looking design as compared to the old model. It s integrated with LED guiding lights along with daytime running lights.

The grille of the new Fortuner also gets a significant design change compared to the old model. The 2021 model comes with a bolder grille that incorporates a mesh pattern and a new shape.

Another difference you can spot in the Fortuner’s front is the bumper, which now looks meaner as compared to the old model. If you ask us, we give the Fortuner’s new fascia a thumbs up. However, we can’t help but compare it to the design of the Geely Coolray, which is also integrated with a sharp and aggressive fascia.

Turning to the side, the new Fortuner gets a new set of 20-inch alloy wheels, which we find more appealing as compared to the old model.

Aside from the new wheels, the new and the old Fortuner features the same design. It still has the same character lines as well as a similar design approach to its wheel arches.

Old vs New (rear): Toyota Fortuner

While it is a facelift model, Toyota still gave the 2021 Fortuner subtle but noticeable design change at the vehicle’s rear. Compared to the old model, the new Fortuner comes with a revamped bumper and a slightly redesigned taillight cluster.

The bumper and taillight fitted in the new Fortuner complete the vehicle’s aggressive and bold stance.
