This has to be the most recognizable vehicle in the entire world especially here in the Philippines mainly because of the Jeep we use with our daily commute.

The design looks a lot like the traditional Jeep; big spare wheel at the back, square taillights and the boxy type body. Let's not forget about the circular headlight that was designed way back during the World War. We are not hoping the headlight design to be changed soon, so as the slotted grille design.

Despite sticking to the initial design since production, the Jeep vehicles never feels old. It gives a new and luxurious look despite keeping a touch of their initial designs. In fact, Wrangler can even compete with the others in the same segment such as: Mercedes G Wagon, Land Rover Defender, and Toyota Land Cruiser.

2. Jeep Wrangler 2020 Philippines: Exterior Review

There are two options for the Wrangler. You can have the Jeep Wrangler which has 2 full metal doors at Php 3.390 million or the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited which has 4 full metal doors at Php 3.590 million.

The price difference of Php 200,000 between the two is not bad at all considering that we’re talking about accessibility. The 2 door variant looks more original and compact but it will be harder for you to access the back seats.

The Jeep Wrangler has BFGoodrich tires which are known to have an average priced tire with above average tread-life. This gets the work done especially on off-roads without increasing Wrangler's price point. 

The Jeep Wrangler has a wide range of color options. There are Firecracker Red, Sting-Gray, Ocean Blue Metallic and many more. But my personal favorite would be the Punk’n Metallic color option.

For its price point, you don’t get electrically folding side mirrors. But at least its power heated though. You can remove the roof panels on the Wrangler–well, you can remove pretty much all the body panels including the doors to complete the Jeep experience.

Inside the cabin, 2020 Jeep Wrangler interior is kept instinct. The leather dash, soft door tops, leather-wrapped steering wheels, and premium Jeep Wrangler seats. You have three options for the seats.

Soulmate Cloth, McKinley Leather and Maddox Cloth. All designed for comfort and it also comes with heated front seats. You might want to get used to the window switches as they are placed on the center console.

One thing that is note recognizing is the analog speedometer and tachometer (RPM gauge). It makes a lot of sense to not go full digital so that it can fit with the classic exterior look.

The Wrangler comes with a 552 watt Alpine® Premium Audio System with 8 speakers. 'Sounds' like the perfect weekend getaway car, right? Not convinced?

There are grab handles for easier access to the car and another grab handle on the dashboard of the front passenger. Let's not forget about the option to remove the doors and roof. I guess they were designed for the rocky adventurous ride on off roads.

4. Jeep Wrangler 2020 Philippines: Engine & Performance

The Jeep Wrangler is available for sale with two choices in its engine. You can have a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine with 272 horsepower that can go from 0 to 100 kph in 7.0 secs or you can have a 2.2-liter diesel with 200 horsepower that can go from 0 to 100 kph in 9 seconds. The fuel consumption is not as impressive as 11 kilometers per liter.

I personally would love to see a V8 version of the Jeep Wrangler. If the Grand Cherokee did it, why not on a Jeep? Just imagine seeing the Jeep we all grow up with upgrading and getting more power but still keep its core design.

Lastly, the Jeep Wrangler can drive through water up to an impressive 30 inches deep. Floods here in the Philippines are a piece of cake for this beast.

The Jeep Wrangler is indeed a car that we welcome despite keeping its traditional overall look. But when is it too much? Well, this may or may not come to you as a surprise but the Jeep Wrangler’s Euro NCAP safety rating is... one star. Yes, two or three may be acceptable somehow but one star??

It’s a surprise how a car that starts at a price point of Php 3.390 million can get a one-star rating. It is said that is mainly due to the lack of modern active and passive safety systems. I hope that in the next evaluation, the rating would improve a lot better because Jeep is an original and is loved by many.
