1. Honda Jazz 2020 Philippines Review: Introduction

The Honda Jazz, one of the best-selling and most recognizable hatchbacks available worldwide due to its cute yet punchy styling that in recent years has gone from less on the cute side, but more on the angular, sporty side. It’s also pretty reliable, easy on the gas and is noted by many for its “monospace” design which provides for the Jazz a very roomy interior for its vehicle class.

In its home country of Japan, the Jazz is known as the Fit and it shares its platform with the Honda City. And if you’re not living under a rock, you might remember that time in the early 2000s where several boatloads of surplus Honda Fit units were sold here in the Philippines.

Those were mainly GD1 to 4 models, otherwise known as the 1st generation of the Jazz, or rather at that time, the FIt. This was before the official release though, and when the time came when Honda Philippines made the Jazz officially available, it sold like hotcakes.

Take a look at the 3rd-gen 2019 Honda Jazz. It's an aging platform but otherwise still very attractive

Now in its third generation, the Honda Jazz models are now built on Honda’s Global Small Car Platform. Its chassis uses ultra-high-strength steel and is larger than the previous versions and as we’ve said before, has come a long way since its first iteration. But the 3rd generation Jazz is aging.

It’s been around since 2013 after all. As such, Honda had begun to work on the next generation Jazz/Fit which of course we talked about before when its test unit was pictured out in the wild. But now, it’s time that we delve deeper into what’s to come for this excellent little hatchback.

So without further ado, here’s all that we at Philkotse.com know so far about the 4th generation Honda Jazz 2020 Philippines which we trust will definitely come here to the country.

2. Honda Jazz 2020 Exterior Review: Changes to be made!

Currently, as we’ve said already, the Honda Jazz uses Honda’s Global Small Car Platform. So with regards to the next generation model of the Jazz, it wouldn’t be a stretch of the imagination that it would still use some sort of improved or revised variant of the 3rd gen’s platform.

Appearnace wise though, even the camouflaged 2020 Honda Jazz pre-production test unit is quite a departure from the current model.

As per spy shots of the 2020 Honda Jazz, the vehicle will come equipped with LED projector head-lights which looks like the ones on the 1st gen Jazz/Fit as well as a new front grille which looks like a much compact version of Honda’s current design language. In short, its front fascia is a stubbier version of the 2019 Honda City’s current grille and front bumper.

Towards the sides, it also appears that the test unit has roof rails which is strange for a hatchback but otherwise, if indeed the rails will come on the production model, it will add a lot to the 2020 Honda Jazz’s versatility and practicality.

Also eye-catching are the glass quarter panel “inside” the A-pillar itself, dividing it into two. And lastly, the pre-production test unit’s roof sports a shark fin antenna which of course the current Honda Jazz models don’t have.

Note the presence of roof rails. Also, doesn't the rear remind you of something? [Source: Carscoops]

For the rear, it looks like a heavy mixture of all things Honda…past and present. And if you squint hard enough, you will see a bit of something from the Fit/Jazz 1st gen and some elements of the Honda Brio.

Take note though that many of these design features found on the pre-production model might not be on the actual production model so we’ll just have to wait and see to be sure. Regardless though, the overall silhouette and proportions of the 4th generation Honda Jazz 2020 Philippines is shaping up to be an attractive package.

And yeah, see those tires on the test unit? Those might not be the final design at all.

3. Honda Jazz 2020 Interior Review: How’s it shaping up?

As of the current available Philippine spec Honda Jazz, there’s an equal amount of hard plastic and soft surfaces and it’s design overall is very similar to other Honda models like the Honda City. Also, the current Jazz’s interior favors black.

For the up-coming model though, it appears that the 2020 Honda Jazz interior will use a two-tone color scheme and a dashboard that features vertical air vents. Also, there’s now this huge touchscreen that sits prominently on the center.

With regards to the interior room, it appears that the 2020 Honda Fit, according to a reliable source, will still have its wonderfully spacious interior whose seats can be folded to increase cargo space.

We might also hazard a guess that Honda will definitely improve useful features like interior storage compartments, interior lighting, a better set of speakers and some even say that the 2020 Jazz will come with adaptive cruise control.

4. Honda Jazz 2020 Philippines: Any news on the engines?

What has been confirmed is that the new Honda Jazz 2020 will come with a 1.0 liter, turbocharged three-cylinder gasoline. This, if you follow closely the specs of new small cars being released today, has been the trend in the automotive industry in order to reduce production cost as well as reducing fuel consumption.

For the European Honda Fit, however, a 1.5-liter diesel will be made available from launch. Also confirmed is a 151 horsepower hybrid engine that’s also being used for the Honda Insight. And yeah, we just hope the hybrid variant gets here to the Philippines.

For wilder rumors, there’s been talk about an all-electric variant in development. And if we go about by the trail of guesswork and rumors, they say that a hypothetical all-electric 2020 Honda Jazz will be designed to go against the 2020 Nissan Leaf which will also see a release in the PH.

With regards to transmission choices, little information can be found on that as of the moment. But if we had to take a guess, the new 2020 Honda Jazz will have of course CVT variants while offering a 5 or 6-speed manual version. Please Honda Philippines, let there be a manual.

5. Honda Jazz 2020 Philippines: Will they make it safer?

The current 2019 Honda Jazz for the Philippines is already quite competent in the realm of passive and active safety. It has a lot of airbags and it comes with a decent amount of driver-assist technologies like ABS with EBD, and stability control.

For the upcoming 2020 Honda Jazz, it seems that the Japanese company will definitely kick it up a notch with stuff like a lane-keeping system, and even a stop and go and road departure mitigation system.

6. Honda Jazz 2020 Price Philippines: We won’t have to wait long

Like any other article of ours that guesses on a next-gen model’s specs and features, we urge our readers to take this article with a grain of salt. Like we’ve said, the above is based merely on the spy shots and are mostly rumors which we’ve dug up.

Also, note that the picture taken is of the pre-production Jazz/Fit so the final production variant might not look like that at all. Well, maybe a little bit but you get the idea.

However, it has been announced that the all-new Honda Jazz 2020 will finally be revealed at the upcoming 46th Tokyo Motor Show in October, so for further updates on the 4th generation 2020 Honda Jazz, just keep yourself posted here on Philkotse.com.
