The crossover arena in the local market is getting even more interesting with the arrival of the all-new Ford Territory. This five-seater crossover sits between the EcoSport and the Everest in the model lineup of Ford Philippines.
The Territory also marks the re-entry of Ford PH into the compact crossover segment, which was previously held by the Escape. From the looks of it, the all-new Territory is determined to make a statement in its segment as it is a vehicle that’s loaded with safety and tech features with an attractive Ford Territory price tag.
The all-new Ford Territory
All-new Ford Territory First Drive Review: Will it conquer the Philippine market?
Under the hood, the all-new Ford Territory is powered by a 1.5-liter EcoBoost gasoline engine that delivers 141 hp and 225 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT), which could be a piece of pleasant news for individuals who are not pleased with Ford’s dual-clutch gearbox.
Look at those character lines.
The all-new Ford Territory measures 4,580mm long, 1,936mm wide, and 1,674mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 2,716mm and a ground clearance of 180mm.
To put things in perspective, the all-new Territory is bigger as compared to the Geely Coolray but it’s smaller compared to the Subaru Forester. This makes the Territory a versatile car in terms of which segment it belongs to since it’s larger than the subcompact crossovers in the market while it’s quite smaller to the compact crossovers we have here.
It comes with LED taillights
The Territory is sourced from China since this vehicle is developed by Ford Motor Company and Jiangling Motors Corporation. It comes with an aggressive, composed, and sharp exterior design, which makes the Territory at par with its five-seater crossover rivals.
The all-new Territory is loaded with notable specs across its two variants. As such, standard in both variants are LED headlights (with auto on/off), LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, front and rear fog lamps, rear spoiler, and roof rails.
On the other hand, the top-spec Titanium+ gets a set of 18-inch alloy wheels, as well as a gloss black front grille with chrome inserts.

Inside, Ford’s five-seater crossover comes with a premium-looking cabin that comes with a dark theme and wood-like accents. Once you get inside the Territory, you can’t help but notice the massive 10-inch multimedia touchscreen placed at the center.
Mind you, this massive screen is available in both variants. We were able to play with the Territory’s 10-inch touchscreen before its official launch in the Philippines as Ford invited us for a test drive.
The screen is responsive to every touch and also serves as the monitor of the Territory’s 360-degree view feature. It also Apple Carplay and Android Auto ready.
The all-new Territory's rear seats
Both Territory variants also come with perforated leather seats along with push start button, leather steering wheel with mounted controls, power door locks, speed-sensing door locks, a panoramic moonroof, among others.
Speaking of the panoramic moonroof, when we first played around with it, we thought that it doesn’t open automatically and that you have to hold the switch until it goes all the way back. However, a representative from Ford PH told us that it can be opened with a single flick of its rotary control knob. True enough, it does open all the way without you holding on the control.
It comes with a fully-digital instrument cluster
The instrument cluster of the top-spec Territory is a 10-inch fully-digital display that features three selectable themes: Normal (our favorite), Sport, and Fashion. And oh, the Titanium+ variant also comes with ambient lighting with seven color options that complement every mood, as well as wireless charging.
The Ford Territory's 360 Degree Around View Monitor
In terms of safety features, both variants of the all-new Territory comes with a bunch load of tech such as electronic stability control, anti-lock braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, traction control, hill start assist, rear parking sensors, and six airbags.
On the other hand, the top-spec Titanium+ gets exclusive tech such as Ford’s Active Park Assist with parallel-parking and perpendicular parking, 360 Degree Around View Monitor, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot information system, and lane departure warning.
The all-new Ford Territory is available in six colors, including Ruby Red, Diffused Silver, and Panther Black for both variants. Exclusive to the Trend is the Star White color while the Crystal Pearl White and the Moonstone Blue for the Titanium+ variant.
Ford’s new crossover is now available nationwide at an introductory retail price of Php 1,179,000 for the Trend variant and Php 1,299,000 for the Titanium+. As a launch offer, all customers purchasing the Ford Territory from August 14 to September 15, 2020 will get a free 3-year scheduled service plan (SSP) for a worry-free ownership experience.

Interestingly, the price tag of the Territory Trend variant is Php 11,000 cheaper than the price of the top-spec Ford EcoSport. As such, Philkotse.com asked Ford PH Marketing Director Ryan Lorenzo on the possibility of the Territory affecting the sales of the EcoSport.
The all-new Territory could also be the ax for the EcoSport in the local market since Ford PH priced it too close to its long-standing subcompact crossover. However, the possibility of axing the EcoSport was sizzled down by Lorenzo as he said that it is here to stay, and Ford PH currently has no plans to stop selling the EcoSport.
