The 2021 Hyundai Tucson has officially made its global debut and it doesn’t come with any design similarities compared to its previous generation. Well, that should be the case since this is the fourth-generation Tucson that’s integrated with Hyundai’s new design identity dubbed as “Sensuous Sportiness.”
2021 Hyundai Tucson First Look: This is a production vehicle?
Hyundai said the all-new Tucson features an advanced, experimental design, and state-of-the-art technology. It took design cues from the Vision T SUV concept that was first introduced at the 2019 AutoMobility LA. The said concept car is also guided by Hyundai’s Sensuous Sportiness design philosophy.
Speaking of which, the Korean automaker shared that its new design direction is characterized by the four elements: proportion, architecture, styling, and technology.
In terms of size, the 2021 Tucson is larger than its predecessor. It is 20mm longer, 15mm wider, and 5mm taller (4,500mm x 1,865mm x 1,650mm). The all-new Tucson has a wheelbase of 2,680mm, which is 10mm longer than the outgoing model.
The fourth-generation Hyundai Tucson
The look of the 2021 Tucson is more distinctive than ever. As compared to the outgoing model, the all-new Tucson sports a sharper, bolder, and more angular design. The reason for this is that Hyundai designers used the concept of geometric algorithms to create “futuristic” design elements that are guided by the Sensuous Sportiness identity. The brand’s designers call this process as “parametric dynamics”, which utilize lines, angles, and shapes.
The said design process is heavily seen on the 2021 Tucson’s front end, which now looks totally different from its predecessor. The vehicle’s front grille is where you can spot the new design approach that Hyundai is going for. Hyundai said that the Tucson’s grille features Parametric Hidden Lights, which creates a strong impression and creates a distinctive look.
Of note, the LED daytime running lights (DRL) are seamlessly integrated into the grille. When the lights are off, the front of the vehicle appears covered in dark, geometric patterns, and you can’t tell that it has DRLs. Moreover, you can’t help but notice the 2021 Tucson’s sharp-looking headlights and angular bumper, which further adds to the vehicle’s striking appearance.

The rear, on the other hand, comes with wide taillights with parametric hidden light details. The bumper also comes with a three-dimensional effect and it gives Tucson a dose of sportiness. Of note, the rear wipers of the Tucson are hidden under the spoiler. It also gets a smooth glass Hyundai logo, which is something new as compared to the brand’s conventional emblem.
Interior of the 2021 Hyundai Tucson
Stepping inside, the 2021 Hyundai Tucson comes with a premium-like interior theme. It has a silver trim that runs from the center all the way to the rear doors. Hyundai added that the Tucson’s cabin is filled with neutral tones along with soft-touch materials.
Placed right the center of the dashboard is a 10.25-inch infotainment screen that’s integrated with essential vehicle functions that can be controlled via touch, which makes the Tuscon the first Hyundai model to feature a full touchscreen console.
The said touchscreen is also compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In addition, the Tucson comes with a Rear Sleeping Mod feature that allows the driver to listen to their selected audio without the same audio being transmitted to the rear speakers so that passengers who are sleeping will not be disturbed. Occupants can also enjoy up to 64 ambient light options along with 10 levels of brightness.
