Ford Philippines has officially brought in the next-generation Everest, four months after making its world and ASEAN premieres. This is the third iteration of the midsize SUV, and the Blue Oval brand is barging through the segment with guns blazing.
The 2023 Ford Everest is officially available in our market
The 2023 Ford Everest will be available in five trim levels, ranging from the base Trend 4x2 to the range-topping Titanium+ 4x4. What does the latest incarnation of Ford’s long-running nameplate have to offer the market?
Exterior
Dimensions for the new Everest run at 4,904mm in length, 2,201mm in width, and 1,884mm in height. These make it 11mm longer, 339mm wider, and 48mm higher than the second-generation model.
It practically surpasses its predecessor where exterior dimensions are concerned
The wheelbase on the new model also gained 50mm for a total of 2,900mm, while the front and rear tracks are now at 1,620mm wide, an increase of up to 60mm over the previous version. However, ground clearance has been slightly reduced by 2mm.
Depending on the trim level, headlamps come either as standard LEDs or a Matrix LED with Advance Front Lighting System, accompanied by C-shaped daytime running lights. These are bisected by a prominent horizontal bar on the new grille that comes rendered in body color, gloss black, or chrome finishes.
Available alloy wheels range from 18 to 10 inches
Puddle lamps and stepboards have been carried over from the previous version. The greenhouse is now complemented by a chrome beltline on upper-spec variants, leading to beefier D-pillars.
A redesigned light signature defines the rear of the new Everest
An available hands-free power tailgate features a redesigned rear LED lamp array, hovering over a more understated rear bumper and diffuser combo that now features rear tow hooks. Even with the streamlined fenders, the new Everest’s girth is still emphasized by the alloy wheels ranging from 18 to 20 inches.
Interior
The Everest has always been known for three-row seating, and the new-generation model is no different. Occupants will especially benefit from the increased wheelbase as they kick back on seats draped in leather material. Eight-way power adjustment for the driver’s seat is standard across the range, and this is also offered on the Limited variant upwards for the front passenger.
The interior looks more premium than ever
Second-row benches can be split-folded 60:40, while power-folding third-row seats are reserved for the Titanium+ 4x4. Electrochromatic rear view mirrors, dual-zone automatic temperature control, and illuminated vanity mirrors are offered by default on most of the range. The panoramic moonroof remains exclusive to the Titanium+ variants.
Occupants get up to four 12-volt power outlets for charging their devices on the go. Meanwhile, a 230-volt inverter at the rear console is available on the Titanium+ for powering larger appliances such as camping equipment.
Tech & Safety
Most variants of the new Everest are equipped with an 8-inch digital cluster screen, with the Titanium+ 4x4 getting a 12-inch version. A 10-inch colored dashboard touchscreen is standard on the Trend, Limited, and Sport variants, while the Titanium+ 4x2 and 4x4 feature a bigger 12-inch interface.
A new digital instrument cluster is now standard
Ford’s SYNC 4A with support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is offered on all new Everest units, with the Titanium+ variants adding Enhanced Voice Recognition. These are accompanied by eight speakers on board. As with the outgoing model, a windscreen-mounted USB port is available for dashcams.
An extra 50mm has been added to the wheelbase to benefit both passengers and cargo
The next-gen Everest now comes with a 360-degree surround camera system to further reduce blind spots around the Titanium+ 4x4 trim level, accompanied by evasive steer assist, post-impact braking, and Dynamic Brake Support. These are on top of the usual complement of safety and driver-assist features such as airbags, anti-lock brakes, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and tire pressure monitoring system.
Engine & Drivetrain
Supplying the needed muscle under the new Everest’s hood are the same engine choices on the previous generation, both compliant with Euro 4 emissions standards. One is a 2.0-liter common-rail turbodiesel power unit that supplies 168 horsepower and 405 Nm of torque, while the other is a bi-turbo version rated at 207 horsepower and 500 Nm of twist.
The next-gen Everest marches on with the same powertrain options for tackling rough terrain
Unlike the second-generation Everest, the new iteration offers the 10-speed automatic transmission only on the Titanium+ 4x4 that also features a rear locking differential. Meanwhile, the rest of the range gets a 6-speed slushbox. Electric power steering is found on all variants for agility in handling.
