Volkswagen Philippines finally unveiled the new 2021 Volkswagen Santana facelift after teasing about it last December. There are no significant changes made design-wise. The biggest change made on the new Santana can be seen in its powertrain option.
The 2021 Volkswagen Santana is dropping the 1.4 MPI engine from the outgoing model’s base variant. Instead, all variants will be powered by a 1.5 MPI gasoline engine with BlueMotion that boasts optimum fuel efficiency. The engine can deliver power outputs of 109 hp and 145 Nm of torque.

The 5-speed manual transmission is also discontinued and all variants use a 6-speed automatic transmission. Volkswagen Philippines is offering the 2021 Santana with two variants only, instead of three from last year. These include the base 180 MPI AT S and the top-of-the-line 180 MPI AT SE variants.
The exterior and interior designs from the outgoing model are still retained in the 2021 model. The only change made is the new multi-spoke alloy wheels.
However, the new Santana is enhanced in terms of safety as the base S model now offers an electronic stabilization program (ESP), anti-slip regulation (ASR) system, and an anti-lock braking system (ABS) as standard.

The SE variant is benefited from the refreshed model as it comes with an optional 7-inch infotainment screen that supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic headlights, front fog lamps, intermittent control wipers with rain sensors, additional side airbags, rear parking distance control, and a sunroof.
As for pricing, the base 180 MPI AT S variant now starts at Php 755,000, while the top-spec 180 MPI SE AT comes with a sticker price of Php 898,000. The new Santana is offered with comprehensive 3-year or 100,000-km warranty coverage (whichever comes first), yearly preventive maintenance service or every 10,000 kilometers (whichever comes first), and 24/7 emergency roadside assistance.
