There’s a new Everest variant coming to town, and from the looks of it, this one means business. Ladies and gentlemen, meet the 2020 Ford Everest Sport, launched online for the Philippine market after a two-month delay.
Launched: 2020 Ford Everest Sport adds spice to the Blue Oval midsize SUV lineup
The variant broke cover last year, intended to bridge the gap between the Trend and Titanium trims. But where its siblings take a cue from Rihanna and sparkle with their chrome bits, the Everest Sport goes for much more subdued black accents.
The black trim complements the new Deep Crystal Blue body color exclusive to the Everest Sport
The exclusive revised grille and front bumper trim? Black. Side mirrors? Black. Window surrounds, roof rails, and 20-inch alloy wheels? Ebony. Which is another way of saying, well, black.
Probably the only major revision is the bi-LED headlamps, which now come with (sigh) black inserts. Ford claims the new pair of dazzlers have 17 percent greater lighting penetration, with 20 percent more power in high-beam mode.

Painted 20-inch black alloys can turn heads even without the bling
The Everest Sport comes in a range of four colors: Aluminum Metallic, Absolute Black, Arctic White, and Deep Crystal Blue, the last one being a new color variant on the Everest line.
There’s even black Everest badging across the hood, and we imagine that readability is going to be problematic on the black Everest Sport.

Inside, the Everest Sport further strives to distinguish itself from its more mundane brethren with door pulls and trim accents rendered in Raceway Blue.
Seats on the first two rows get leather accents with unique blue stitching. Drivers are treated to a throne with 8-way power adjustment, while the power liftgate out back offers a hands-free function for easier loading of cargo.

Even the interior gets the ebony treatment
An 8-inch SYNC3 touchscreen head unit comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Two USB ports add to the connectivity options, while 10 speakers make onboard tunes all the more enjoyable.
Its place as a step up from the base Trend notwithstanding, the Everest Sport gets a 10-speed automatic transmission with SelectShift.
The SUV will only come with a 2.0L single-turbo diesel mill, good for 178 hp and 420 Nm of torque powering the rear wheels. Ford Philippines confirmed that the Everest Sport will be solely offered as a 4x2 variant, at least for now.

The Everest Sport is a serious stunner of an SUV
Standard safety features on the Everest Sport include cruise control, electronic power assist steering (EPAS), electronic stability control, antilock brakes, and a rear parking camera. All occupants benefit from the presence of seven airbags that instantly deploy on impact, surrounding everyone in a cocoon of safety.
Ford’s latest midsize SUV variant retails for Php 1.868 million, and shows up on all Ford dealerships nationwide beginning May 22. Early Everest Sport customers get free maintenance for 3 years, for reservations made on or before May 31.
If you’ve always wanted a more stern-looking Everest, the Sport is what you’ve been waiting for. And keep yourself posted with Philkotse.com.
