The Mazda6 Philippines is the Japanese marque's entry into the midsize sedan market. It is available in two variants, which are both priced at Php 2,250,000. Under the hood, the sedan has two engine options, namely the 2.5-liter SkyActiv-G (gasoline) turbo and 2.2-liter SkyActiv-D (diesel) engines. With the gas power unit, the vehicle makes 228 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the diesel mill generates 187 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. As standard, the engines can only be paired with a 6-speed SkyActiv-Drive (automatic) transmission.
Dimensions-wise, the Mazda6 has a length of 4,870 mm, a width of 1,840 mm, and a height of 1,450 mm. Moreover, it comes with a wheelbase of 2,830 mm. In the Philippines, this Japanese midsize sedan goes up against the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.
Launch
Mazda Philippines first introduced the Mazda 6 Sedan in 2013, and it was equipped with a gasoline engine. In 2016, the Mazda 6 Sedan received a facelift together with the addition of a diesel-powered variant. The most recent update was in 2019, which now sports the latest look and technological specifications.
Mazda 6 Exterior
The Mazda 6 Sedan is integrated with the car brand’s Kodo design language. The said design philosophy give the Mazda 6 Sedan a slight similarity to its smaller siblings such as the Mazda 3 and the Mazda 2. The front end of this mid-size sedan is fitted with a mesh grille as well as adaptive LED headlights, and LED daytime running lights. The vehicle also comes with rain-sensing wipers.
Mazda’s mid-size sedan features smooth character lines that flow on both sides of the vehicle. It is complemented by rounder edges following the car brand’s sensual aesthetic. The vehicle is finished off with a set of 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, which adds to the Mazda 6’s overall premium-looking exterior.
Mazda 6 Interior
The interior of the new Mazda 6 is decked in finely selected materials, making the cabin consistent with its sophisticated exterior. Seats are upholstered in Nappa Leather with Senwood Accents in a deep chestnut color palette. It comes with a 10-way Power Adjustable driver seat with Ventilation & Memory, and a 6-way Power Adjustable for the front passenger seat. Rear seats are equipped with a 60:40 split fold-down mechanism, with a center armrest and two USB ports. On the dashboard is a front windshield projected active driving display and a 7-inch LCD Display Meter Set.
Technology & Safety Features
The Mazda 6 is equipped with an 8-inch Mazda Connect infotainment touchscreen that has smartphone mirroring, and Bluetooth function. Audio comes out of an 11-speaker Bose Sound System.
Its slew of safety features include a push start and stop button that complements the Smart Keyless Entry System, Anti-Lock Braking System with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Front and Rear Parking Sensors, and a 360-degree Rear View Camera. Special features on this model include Blindspot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist.
Mazda 6 Platform & Chassis
The Mazda 6 comes with a McPherson Strut suspension setup for the front while a Multi-Link setup at the rear. Its stopping power comes from Ventilated Discs in front and Solid Discs at the rear. This vehicle also has an electric parking brake with auto brake hold.
Mazda 6 Engine & Drivetrain
The Mazda 6 is available in two engine types which are the 2.5-liter SkyActiv-G gasoline engine that delivers 228 hp and 420 Nm of torque. The other engine option is a 2.2-liter diesel power unit that can generate 190 hp and 450 Nm of torque. The engines are mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission that sends power exclusively to the front wheels. The gasoline variant comes with a Sport Mode selection.
