It comes with more ground clearance.

Recently, we have reported about leaked images of a new variant of the Ford EcoSport subcompact crossover called Active. This new variant comes with off-road inspired cosmetic upgrades that give a new feel to the EcoSport.

Now, Ford confirmed the new Active variant of the EcoSport by revealing its features. The 2021 Ford EcoSport Active comes with thicker black plastic claddings around the wheel arches. The rear bumper and roof are also blacked-out that give the subcompact crossover a sleeker look.

The new Ford EcoSport Active

Since the EcoSport Active is off-road inspired, the suspensions have received subtle lift to mildly improve its off-road capabilities. The Blue Oval brand says that Ford EcoSport features more ground clearance but didn’t elaborate on its exact figure. Also, the steering has been retuned and been added with a limited-slip differential for better control on off-roads.

However, the EcoSport Active will still be running with a front-wheel-drive and unibody chassis layout. The Active variant would be a good choice for those individuals who are looking for an affordable vehicle with moderate off-road capabilities.

Inside, the seats come with Eco Leather which uses recycled materials. An A badge has been stitched to the Eco Leather seats that complement the Active badges placed on the exterior. The EcoSport Active will still be installed with an 8-inch infotainment screen with Ford SNYC.

As for safety, the Ford EcoSport Active variant is equipped with traction and stability control, cruise control, and seven airbags.

Powering the Ford EcoSport Active uses the award-winning 1.0-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost engine capable of making 123 hp and 170 Nm of torque. The engine is paired to a 6-speed manual transmission only.

As of this writing, the 2021 Ford EcoSport Active is intended to be sold in the European market only so the chances of seeing it here in the Philippine market are slim.
