The Lamborghini Urus achieved a remarkable record earlier this year when it was hailed the fastest model of the Italian automaker to reach 15,000 unit sales. This shows a promising market for the Urus considering that more car buyers are choosing crossovers/SUVs due to the body type’s space and versatility.
Lamborghini Urus SUV
As the Urus is celebrating its fourth anniversary in the brand’s lineup this December, Lamborghini shared how the model grew significantly over the years. The vehicle’s global sales contributed massively to the brand which helped it grow its business network.
According to Lamborghini, the sales of its SUV reached unprecedented levels in its history. In 2019, the year sales peaked at 1.81 billion Euros (or around Php 102.9 billion). A year after, the brand recorded year sales at 1.61 Euros (or around Php 91.5 million). It is a bit lower but is expected due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The Lamborghini brand is thriving
Of course, the Lamborghini Urus is responsible for the impressive sales figures, delivering over 16,000 units from 2018 to the end of 2021. In addition, the best-selling Lambo managed to attract more car buyers into the Lamborghini brand. In the five continents where the model is offered, about 85 percent of new clients are recorded.
As a result, the Italian automaker was able to double the production site of the Sant’Agata Bolognese, the facility where the Urus is produced, from 80,000 to 160,000 m2. Other improvements include the creation of a new facility and paint shop, new finishing department, new office building, test track, and new logistics warehouse, among others.
Lamborghini hit the jackpot with the Urus
Perhaps the reason why car buyers find the Lamborghini Urus fascinating is that it offers both performance and interior space, which are characteristics one can’t get from the Aventador or Huracan. That said, the SUV is expected to improve its sales figures in consideration of its unceasing growth over the years and the market trend.
