Japanese marque Honda has always made clear its commitment to safety, aiming to achieve zero traffic collision fatalities by 2050. One of the car brand’s technologies that will help with this goal is the Honda Sensing suite, which is continuously being improved to bring a safer driving experience for its customers.
Honda Sensing helps keep drivers safe on the road
In the Philippines, the Metro Manila Accident Reporting and Analysis System recorded 65,032 accidents with 337 deaths in Metro Manila for 2020. That is an alarming number considering the quarantine restrictions that were implemented in that year.
Honda Cars Philippines, Inc.’s (HCPI) answer to reducing the number of accident statistics lies in Honda Sensing, the brand’s set of active and passive safety tech along with driver-assistance features. It was first introduced in the local market through the Honda Legend in 2015, followed by the Honda Pilot in 2016. Now, models such as the Honda Civic, CR-V, Accord, and Civic Type R are equipped with Honda Sensing.

Looking at the recently-launched Honda Civic, its version of Honda Sensing comes with a monocular camera which provides better recognition of vehicles and obstacles around it. HCPI made the Honda Sensing a standard feature in the compact sedan, something that car buyers will appreciate. Also, it offers various high-tech safety and driver-assistance features including:
- Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow (LSF)
- Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)
- Road Departure Mitigation System with Lane Departure Warning (RDM with LDW)
- Auto High Beam (AHB)
- Lead Car Departure Notification System (LCDN)
Aside from improving road safety through Honda Sensing, HCPI rolls out road safety workshops for senior high school students via the Teen Smart Driving and Safety Seminar. It aims to strengthen the youth’s awareness where road safety is concerned. This safety initiative will be expanded through the brand’s partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd).
