Giving importance to road safety.

The World Health Organization cited that more than 1.3 million people die in road traffic crashes every year, which is one person every 24 seconds. This shows that road safety is one of the things that should be taught to motorists or to individuals that are about to get their first time behind the wheel.

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) has been a long-time advocate of road safety. Way back in 2004, HCPI team up with the Land Transportation Office to promote road safety through seminar workshops, and fun competition. This was under HCPI’s Youth for Environment and Safety Movement (YES Move).

The car company sustained the said initiative by integrating it with a broader national program in 2017, the One Honda Road Safety (1HRS). In 2019, HCPI partnered with the Department of Education-Sta. Rosa to conduct seminar workshops on road safety for teenagers. Now, the car brand is spearheading another batch of road safety workshops under the “Teen Smart” program, which is aimed at senior high school students.

The latest Teen Smart program kicked off through a virtual signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) held last November between the Department of Education-Sta. Rosa, and HCPI.

Inspired by the car brand’s “Safety for Everyone” campaign, the Teen Smart program intends to strengthen the youth's consciousness on the concept of road safety. It also aims to deepen their sense of responsibility in how they can help reduce road accidents and fatalities. In addition, the signed MOU includes the integration of road safety in the senior high school curriculum.
